Good Evening Glen Forest Families,

I hope this message finds you and your family well.  Your students continue to thrive and are working hard as we approach the end of the first quarter!  Thank you for sharing your children with us!

CRITICAL INFORMATION: Glen Forest was notified today that some bus routes are being changed effective this coming Tuesday, October 25th!  Please review the message that will come from the transportation department to check your child's bus number.  School staff will be placing stickers on the students as they arrive at school Tuesday and Wednesday, and teachers will review the information to ensure we get students on the correct bus.  The goal of the changes is to get students home as soon as possible.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Congratulations, Taiia Clarke!  I am pleased to announce that one of our amazing assistant principals, Ms. Clarke has been named the new principal of Beech Tree Elementary, effective November 14th.  Although Ms. Clarke's time at Glen Forest was brief, her contributions and collaborative spirit have made a positive impact on our school culture and community.  Best wishes too Ms. Clarke as she flies from the nest and on to her next adventure!

FCPS Calendar Reminders:

Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate this day and the victory of light over darkness. Monday, Oct. 24 is a holiday for teachers and students (only 12 month employees report).

As a reminder, Friday, October 28, is the last day of the first quarter, and a two-hour early release for students. Also, schools are closed for students on Monday, Oct. 31, for a teacher workday. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.

Level IV AAP (Advanced Academics Program) Parent Information Night & PTO Meeting: Please join us on Tuesday, October 25th in the cafe at 6:30pm.  The first part will be for parents of 2nd - 5th grade students to learn about Fairfax County's AAP Level IV referral, screening, and identification process.  Following this, please stay for a general PTO meeting from 7:30 to 8:00 pm to learn about what the PTO has planned to support our school.  The discussion will include volunteer opportunities, ways the PTO can support our students and staff, and plan for International Night as well as future activities.  We hope to see you there!

That's all for now.  Please let me know if you have any questions, compliments, or concerns.  I am proud to be your principal.
