Principal Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We enjoyed seeing many of you at the Ice Cream Social on Friday evening.  We are grateful to the PTA for planning such a fun event and are glad we were able to gather together again as a community.

We are excited that some of you have already come for Parent/Teacher Conferences.   Connecting one on one to discuss your child’s progress is very important for you and your child.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have not already scheduled a conference.

There will be no school next Monday, October 24 and we will have a 2 hour early release on Friday, October 28.

Have a great week!

Peace.

To submit a nomination please complete the Google form link.  You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees.  One individual may only nominate one employee per category.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, November 18.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Heflin at jheflin@fcps.edu

PTA Update

Join the MRES Bike Train This Week

The next Marshall Road Bike Train is tomorrow, October 18.  The Bike Train departs Meadow Lane Park at 8:45 am.  Come early and get your bike tires pumped up with air or join us on the fly when we pass your street!   Adult volunteers will be riding to chaperone the entire trip, morning and afternoon.

Riders must have a helmet and be comfortable riding a two-wheel bike on neighborhood roads.  Everyone who participates will receive new bike safety equipment and a bike lock.  Please visit our PTA Website and follow the SignUp Genius link if you would like to volunteer.

Burgers for Bucks at Social Burger

Treat yourself to one of Vienna’s favorite burgers!  Our next Dining 4 Dollars is tomorrow, October 18 at Social Burger.  Dine in or take out between 4:00-8:00 pm and 20% of all sales will be donated to Marshall Road.  No code or flyer needed.  Social Burger sources their ingredients from local vendors, including produce from DePaul’s Urban Farm on 123 in Vienna!  Your purchase will support many links of the local food chain as well as MRES.  Details can be found in this flyer

Fall Garden Cleanup

Join other MRES parents and families for some fresh air and beautification of the school grounds this Saturday, October 22 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm.  This is a fun, family friendly event!  Donuts, cider, and water will be provided for volunteers.

We will be weeding, mulching, pruning tree limbs, and planting seeds and perennials including milkweed for our 2023 monarch butterflies.  A few strong sets of arms are needed to prune tree limbs and carry heavy bags.  Consider bringing your own gloves and tools (there are some available to borrow, too), and wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.  Please sign up here to help hereFlyer  Folleto en español

Save the Date: Marshall Road’s 12th Annual Runathon

The PTA is excited to host Marshall Road’s 12th Annual Runathon on Thursday, November 10.  This is our ONE main fundraiser of the year.  It is a day full of energy and excitement where students run laps around the track to raise money for the school.  Money raised supports the PTA’s programs throughout the year, including community events (like our Family Picnics, Ice Cream Social, and International Night), field trips, author visits, classroom grants, teacher appreciation, and more!  Sign up here to volunteer the day of the Runathon.  All volunteers will receive a free Runathon t-shirt!

Join the PTA before November 16 to be entered in a raffle!

Join between now and our next PTA meeting on November 16 and be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift certificate to our spirit wear store.  We encourage all MRES family and community members to join the PTA!  Visit our website to complete your membership.  Our calendar year runs July 1-June 30, and memberships need to be renewed each year.  An annual membership is $15 for one parent /guardian, $10 for a second parent/guardian (a total of only $25 for a family), and just $10 for faculty and staff.
