8th Grade Finance Park Information For Parent Volunteers

Rachel Carson Middle School 8th graders will attend Finance Park in person this year.  We would love to have you come along with us!  We are in need of 25 parent volunteers for each of our six teams.   This is a 4.5 hour commitment, and includes an hour of training at the Finance Park facility next to Frost MS before our students arrive.  You will help guide students through different phases of the day, which simulate real-world budgeting decisions, spending research, and bill payment. Then you’ll share your own life experiences and help them walk a day in your shoes. You bring the program to life.

Carson MS 8th grade teams are going to Finance Park on the following dates (any snow days will be rescheduled at a later time) –

Monday, November 28 – Wolves

Monday, December 12 – Yellow Jackets

Tuesday, December 13 – Explorers

Wednesday, December 14 – Voyagers

Thursday, December 15 – Dolphins

Friday, December 16 – Discovery

 

If you are able to volunteer with Carson’s Finance Park field trip, please sign-up using both links - (1) The Finance Park Sign-up link, and the (2) JA Finance Park link.

  1. You also need to sign up at the Junior Achievement/Finance Park Website. Directions to do that are below.

 Logging In for the First Time:

1. Navigate to:  https://www.myja.org/parents/fairfax  and click the blue “Sign Up to Volunteer” button.

2. At the bottom of the page, click on “Create New Account.”

3. Choose a username and password that you will be able to remember, and click “Next.”

4. Fill out your profile, completing all boxes that are indicated as required by the asterisks.

5. On the confirmation page, click “Next” to view available slots for upcoming dates.

 

Finding and Registering For Carson MS:

1. In the top right corner, click the magnifying glass to open the search bar.

2. Enter the name of your student’s school, Carson MS.

3. Identify which date your student will be visiting JA Finance Park.
