Dear Lake Anne Family,
There was so much packed into this short week of learning for our dolphins! We had another visit from our therapy dogs, students dressed in style for school picture day, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather during our October Walk and Roll! We also had the opportunity to celebrate our amazing custodians by leaving notes of appreciation at there office, having a parade in their honor and giving them some special goodies that they can enjoy. Thank you to all of our students, teachers, parents, and community partners who participated in making our custodians feel appreciated and special!
As a reminder, CogAt Testing starts next week. Families of students in grades 3-6 received a letter via e-notify. Please make sure your students attend school that day. Parents of students in grade 2 also received a letter. Below is the anticipated schedule of testing.

- Grade 2: October 13, October 14, October 17

Calendar Reminder!
There is no school for students on Monday September 10, 2022 due to an FCPS staff development day.

Students in grades K-2 will no longer participate in the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) screener. Instead, the Child Behavior Rating Scale administered in kindergarten, existing attendance, and behavior data will be used to determine necessary social emotional instruction and supports. School teams will use these measures alongside family input, as they develop their understanding of students’ needs and strategies to support them.
Students in grades 3-12 will be able to participate in the SEL screener. School teams and families use this information to develop positive school cultures and support students academically and personally. This year, students will participate in the screener in the fall (October/November) and spring (March). Parents are able to opt their child out of taking the SEL screener. Fairfax County Public Schools will participate in International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 12, in an effort to promote physical activity and reduce traffic congestion and pollution near schools.
Students and employees are encouraged to bike or walk to school and work where safe to do so on October 12. |
