Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

This morning was an exciting one in the hive!  Our Help the Hive thermometers made it all the way to $25,000, we just have a final $2,000 to make the goal.  Mrs. Brown Rice and I will keep up our end of the bargain and we will be participating in field day activities in our BEE costumes!  It is sure to bring some laughs and extra motivation for parents to volunteer!  Our kindergarteners also embarked on their first field trip!  They had so much fun at Cox Farms.  Thank you to all of our parent chaperones!

We know that we have several grade levels that have Family Invite Activities in the next couple of months.  These are great opportunities to come and see your child while they engage in learning or share something they have been working on.  Since a lot of you have joined our Stenwood community during the Covid era, many of you have never registered for the Visitor Management System in our building.  If you find yourself at Stenwood to pick up your child or a late drop off, feel free to pop into the office and ask if it would be a good time to register in the VMS system.  You need a valid driver’s license or DMV identification card.  This will save you time in the future when you come in for events or to volunteer.

If you have any planned absences around the upcoming holiday weekend, please send an email to StenwoodElem.Attendance@fcps.edu ahead of time to help our office.

As a reminder, Wednesday is a student holiday for the observation of Yom Kippur.  Monday, 10/10 is also a student holiday for the observance of Indigenous Peoples Day.

Positivity Project: Forgiveness

PP Picture Logo

This week, we are focusing on Forgiveness. You forgive those who have done wrong. You accept that people make mistakes.

“Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.”

                    ~Marianne Williamson

Questions you might enjoy talking about:

  • Why is forgiveness so hard to give sometimes?
  • Why is there “no peace” without forgiveness?
  • What happens to YOU when you forgive someone who has done you wrong?
