Good Evening Glen Forest Families,

I recognize that unexpected community events, such as the one on Friday, make us pause and question the safety of our students.  Please know that the Glen Forest staff responded quickly and calmly to a report of police activity in the area.  After any such incident, there is always a debrief to ensure that all procedures were in place and carried out.  Normal operations were continued inside the school building as school staff monitored the police activity in the area.  I am proud of the staff and please know that safety and security is of highest priority at Glen Forest.

  • Tomorrow evening, Tuesday, 9/27/22 at 6:30pm-7:30pm - Advanced Academic Placement Information Session in-person for all Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Parents - Overview of Advanced Academic Programs services. This presentation will provide families with information about gifted services, known in FCPS as “Advanced Academic Programs, or “AAP.”
  • Thursday, 9/29/22 from 10:00am-10:45 am - Our first Family Engagement Meeting, hosted by our Family Liaisons. Aida Joranko and Layla Alyacuoby.  The topic will be "Getting to Know FCPS."  Please come to the cafe in-person or join this Zoom link:

  • Friday evening, 9/30/22 from 5:30pm-7:00pm - Fall Family Festival!  Please come with your families and either purchase dinner from one of the food trucks or bring your own.  There will be music, games, and a bake sale.  Please email the PTO at glenforestpta@gmail.com if you can donate a baked good or would like to run a game.  These events are not possible without your support!

Looking ahead to October....

October 4th - PTO Spirit Wear Orders Due - Choose from baseball t's, sweatshirts, a new lighter weight t-shirt and more!  Orders can be placed here.  All orders will be delivered to your child at school. 

October 5th - School Holiday - No School for Students 

October 10th - Teacher Workday - No School for Students
