Rosh Hashanah No School for Students Image

Monday, Sept. 26, is a student holiday/professional work day for teachers. It is also Rosh Hashanah, the two-day celebration of the Jewish New Year. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.

Willow Springs families,

Shanah tovah to our Jewish community celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Meaning “head of the year,” Rosh Hashanah is one of Judaism’s holiest days and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection that ends with Yom Kippur.

It was nice to have so many dads join us for our Watch D.O.G.S. meeting last week. Watch D.O.G.S. stands for Dads Of Great Students. WSES Watch D.O.G.S. is a group of men who volunteer at school and help the school as needed during their day. You can be a dad, stepdad, grandpa, or uncle. Here at Willow Springs, our dads spend their day volunteering in classrooms, as well as assisting with bus duty, Kiss-N-Ride, and lunchtime. Thanks again to all the WSES men that attended our informational meeting. For more information, or to sign up, visit our website.

It is a true gift to see students coming to school each day with smiles on their faces!  As we visit classrooms throughout the day, our students are eager to share with us what they are learning.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

Remember to keep up with the latest news and information in our News You ChooseWSES websiteand WSES Family Schoology course.

Happy Fall!

Sincerely,

Dylan Taylor, Principal

Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

Ipsa Stringer, Assistant Principal

This group of 6th graders cleaned up our P2 rock garden. This rainbow is shining brightly again! Each rock represents a character strength that our students connected with last school year. Excited to do this again!

Clubs and Activities at WSES

List of open clubs at WSES

Willow Springs PTA supports a variety of before and after school clubs at our school. The PTA is thankful for the volunteers offering clubs this year. Details on times, dates and ages served will be sent out through News You Choose as they become available. More information and club details can be found on the PTA website.

In addition to the current open clubs listed above, we have seven Girl Scout Troops with girls from kindergarten through sixth grade at Willow Springs. They usually meet twice a month and have activities they plan together. There are a few activities each year in which all troops participate. Contact Rima Veslilind, Volunteer Troop Organizer, for more information or call 703-530-9161.

SR&R Signature Sheet Due September 30

SR&R Image

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/caregiver with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/caregiver’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30.

Visit the SIS Parentvue Account Overview page for help logging in to your account. Please contact us at 703-679-6000, if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.
