#GreatMindsatWork

Our kindergartners minds are hard at work during Language Arts rotations. Check out our learners as the explore LEXIA via school issued iPads, work their teacher in small groups and engage in a variety of table activities during their station time.

Thank you KPKG PTA!

This past Friday night hundreds of students and families were able to reconnect and relax together thanks to our amazing PTA during our Back to School Ice Cream Social. We are extremely grateful for the efforts of our families and the opportunity to connect over a cup of ice cream. Also we would like to extend an advance BIG THANK YOU for everyone's support and participation in Boosterthon, the PTA's main fundraiser. We are looking forward to the Fun Run on Friday!

Handle With Care

Sometimes children feel overwhelmed; and we are here to help support your child. If your student is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, feel free to email your child’s teacher with a simple subject line such as:  handle with care, rough morning, sleepless night, etc. You don’t have to provide any other details unless you want to. We will know to give your child a little extra attention and grace that day.

School Photos

Kinder and Second Grade, Tuesday, October 11th
First and Third Grade, Wednesday, October 12th

All students will be photographed for school records either Tuesday, October 11th (Kindergarten and Second Grade) or Wednesday, October 12th   (First and Third Grade).  Package options from Strawbridge Studios can be found electronically through the attached link.  Additionally, paper copies will be sent home in your student’s Take Home Envelope.

Parents can choose to purchase photos, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting our school.  If you decide to order a photo package, please return the envelope to school by photo day. Photos should arrive in a few weeks.  Make-up photos and re-takes will occur Wednesday December 7th.  For questions you can go to Strawbridge.net and enter the on-line code FM397770.

Advanced Academics

Are you curious about Advanced Academic Programs in FCPS Elementary Schools? Mrs. Keane (AART at Kings Park) and Mrs. Rode (AART at Kings Glen) have created an overview video for all families about the continuum of services.

Kings Park will be offering two parent question/answer sessions regarding AAP services and screening processes. Our first session will be September 28 from 9-9:30am in Room 1 at KPES. If you are unable to attend and have lingering questions following the video, please reach out to Mrs. Keane (makeane@fcps.edu) via email. All are welcome!

For second and third grade families interested in the screening process for full-time AAP services, please keep an eye out for an additional informational presentation in next week’s message. Following next week’s video, a screening-process-specific Q&A session will be held on Zoom with the opportunity to ask questions of Mrs. Keane and Mrs. Rode. This Q&A session will be held on October 11 at 6:30pm – also included in next week’s message will be a short form to request the Zoom link.

Any questions? Please reach out to Mrs. Keane (makeane@fcps.edu).

Volunteer with the PTA.  Volunteering is certainly not a requirement of joining the PTA, but we are always looking for more help!  Fill out the form on this page to let us know how you can help!
