1. From the Principal's Desk
Dear Members of the Chantilly HS Community:
It’s shaping up to be a beautiful early fall weekend! In addition to our 2nd home game tonight against Robinson HS, CHS staff and families will be taking part in other community events over the next few days. Come check out Chantilly Jazz at the grand opening of the new Sully Community Center at 1PM tomorrow (see details below) and help those in need by participating in the Asha-Jyothi 5K on Sunday morning (see information below about how to sign up).
If you attend tonight’s game and see a large party going on as you enter the stadium, it’s our annual staff tailgate party. To help celebrate what it means to be a member of the CHS team, the administrative team invites all staff members and their families to a free tailgate party. Approximately 300 attendees are expected, and I think it is yet another example of the family atmosphere that makes Chantilly HS a special place to teach and learn.
Have a good weekend,
Scott Poole

Ms. Nikisha Williams (center), guest artist for Drama 3 & Drama 4 students, currently starring in Hamilton at The Kennedy Center
The Chantilly Drama Department had the privilege of hosting Ms. Nikisha Williams as a guest artist for their Drama 3 & Drama 4 students. Ms. Williams is currently starring in one of the leading roles of ‘Hamilton’ as Eliza, the wife of Alexander Hamilton. Ms. Williams is performing with the tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and CHS theatre director, Ms. Shannon Spicer, reached out to see if she would like to share her journey with our aspiring actors. Advanced acting students had the opportunity to chat with Ms. Williams for an hour over zoom asking questions about her professional career, training and advice she had to offer as our students discover their own creative paths.
 Zoom Class with Ms. Williams
5. Community Events
Come join in on the Asha-Jyothi annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday September 18th at Fairfax Corner at 8am.
All proceeds that we raise from this year’s 5K will go towards Generation Yuvaa, an initiative in India aimed at helping homeless children. We donated $4777 to the same cause as part of the last 5K, and our donation was used to provide food and school supplies.
To sign up: https://www.asha-jyothi.org/event/2022fairfax5k/ . Simply enter the code “aj4schools” and select “Chantilly HS” from the drop down menu. A discounted price of $10 for the 5K (regular price $25) will be given to participants. Besides raising money for an important cause, it’s simply a great event that includes performances and food after the run/walk.
Chantilly Jazz
Chantilly Jazz will be performing at 1:10pm at the Sully Community Center grand opening! Their performance will last about 30 minutes.
6. Recent Student Successes
This is the next installment for the school year of what will become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students. I plan to meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.
