Willow Springs families,

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. We are excited to kick off another wonderful week with our students and staff. Thank you to the families who volunteered their time today to make Picture Day such a success. We look forward to more opportunities to invite families into the building and volunteer.

Last week our students in grades 1-6 completed their first lockdown drill of the school year. An update was posted in our WSES Parent Guardian Schoology course immediately following the lockdown drill. Log in with your ParentVue username and password.

Tonight, we will host a 1/2 hour family session covering how to navigate Schoology at 5 p.m. Click here to access the link.

We hope to see our families at the Asha-Jyothi 14th Annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 18th, at Fairfax Corner at 8 a.m. All proceeds that we raise will go towards STEAM resources and opportunities at WSES. Click here to sign up for participating staff, students, and their families. Enter the code “AJ4schools” and select our school from the drop-down menu. A discounted price of $10 for the 5K will be given to all participants.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Dylan Taylor, Principal

SR&R Signature Sheet Due September 30

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/caregiver with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/caregiver’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30.

Visit the SIS Parentvue Account Overview page for help logging in to your account. Please contact us at 703-679-6000, if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.

Attendance Matters!

Attend Today

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Some of the ways parents can help their children create healthy routines and a habit of getting to school on time every day include:

  • Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. (Need help? Download this checklist in English or Spanish.)
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
  • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make them feel comfortable and excited about learning.
  • Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
  • When possible, avoid medical appointments or extended trips when school is in session.

PickUp Patrol: Important Reminders

PickUp Patrol

Willow Springs uses PickUp Patrol for parents to report absences, late arrivals, and early pick-ups.

WSES values PickUp Patrol as it ensures a safe dismissal for all students based on the child's default plan. Please use the link here.

Numbers after WC are the bus#, 05 in this example: Bus Route WC05AMAOB.

To update your child's default plan to "bus rider", "kiss and ride", or "walker," simply log in and select a dismissal option. Then hit submit and that’s it! Your child's teacher and the main office will be notified. Updating your child's default plan is a one-time action. Use PickUp Patrol regularly to report a plan change, absence, late arrival, or early pick-up. A default plan is NEEDED for all students.

ALL PLAN CHANGES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 1 P.M.

Please contact our main office if you do not have an active account and require a new welcome activation email.
