Every Student, Every Strength

Each year, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. During this time we celebrate the rich histories, cultures and diversity of the American Latino community and the contributions of the ancestors of American citizens who came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Neighborhood and Community Services Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month in September/October

National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 to October 15, 2022, and the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services is celebrating with events at several of our community centers. This month pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.

Join the celebration at these NCS community center events in September and October:

    • Hispanic Heritage Month Themed Trivia at Mott Community Center (Senior Program) in Fairfax, September 16 from 1-2 p.m. An interactive trivia game focused on facts, individuals and celebrations associated with Hispanic Heritage Month.
    • Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Hybla Valley Community Center in Alexandria, September 24 from 1-4 p.m. This event will be potluck style, so we are asking families to provide a Hispanic dish they love. There will also be games and fun activities for the community
    • Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Reston Teen Center in Reston, October 7 from 4-5 p.m.
    • Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Sully Community Center in Herndon, October 15 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Celebrate and learn about Hispanic culture with food, music, arts and crafts and more.
