#GreatMindsatWork

Every day our students enter the classroom to work, learn and play collaboratively. Check out the Class Mantra for Room 31. This serves as a great reminder for students, staff and families alike. Each morning all classrooms begin their day with a Morning Meeting to build community and start the day off collaboratively. Everyone is valued and affirmed at KPES, together we make each day a GREAT day!

Handle With Care

Sometimes children feel overwhelmed; and we are here to help support your child. If your student is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, feel free to email your child’s teacher with a simple subject line such as:  handle with care, rough morning, sleepless night, etc. You don’t have to provide any other details unless you want to. We will know to give your child a little extra attention and grace that day.

Walkers Arrival

We are grateful for everyone's cooperation and that the front bus loop traffic has shifted to be buses only during arrival and dismissal. Each day we have many families to walk to school with their students and this practice has made for a much smoother and safer entry for our walker families.

During our internal KPOV news show we have reminded walkers who may arrive early to space out as they enter the building. As many students love an early morning playground session, additional reminders/support from our families will be appreciated. The enthusiasm seen each morning is a great start to the day and a reminder of the joys of teaching and learning at KPES.

Advanced Academics

Families, please find attached the “AAP Fall Newsletter,” providing an overview of the continuum of Advanced Academic services in FCPS.

More information about the continuum of services in elementary school will be shared next week in a short joint video from our Advanced Academic Resource Teachers (AARTs) -- Mrs. Keane (Kings Park) and Mrs. Rode (Kings Glen).

Each school will also host a parent coffee for interested families, providing an opportunity to ask any follow-up questions directly of Mrs. Keane and Mrs. Rode. Mrs. Keane will host Kings Park families on Wednesday, September 28, from 9-9:30am in Room 1.

Join the PTA.  Thanks to everyone that has already joined the PTA for the 2022-2023 school year!  We hope all families will consider joining this year.  Being a PTA member has numerous benefits --  it's a great way to meet new friends and become more involved in your child's school and community.  Join on our website!  Thanks to everyone that joined our first PTA meeting of the school year.  Our budget was adopted, and that and other materials from the meeting can be found here.

Keep in Touch with the PTA.  A great way to keep in touch with the PTA is to subscribe to our emails and/or join our Facebook group.  An updated PTA events calendar can also be found here.  Our monthly newsletter is also a great resource to find out more about the PTA.  Reach out to kpkgpta@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Volunteer with the PTA.  Volunteering is certainly not a requirement of joining the PTA, but we are always looking for more help!  Fill out the form on this page to let us know how you can help!

Care to Share.  We have launched the Care to Share program for the new school year!  Its success depends on volunteers - more information can be found here.

Sincerely,
