Color Week!
Continue to join us each day next week until Friday, September 17 by wearing the colors of the day here at BBES. Kindergarten will be learning their colors the next two weeks and would love for all Scotties throughout the building in Grades K-6 to participate in wearing the color noted above if possible. Thank you for your support of our young learners!
Parent Coffee
Please join us for our first Parent Coffee! We plan to meet in the Cafeteria on September 22, 2022 from 8:40 - 9:25 AM. Bonnie Brae is a Responsive Classroom school and we will be sharing a Responsive Classroom overview for our parents and guardians. We hope to see you there!

Advanced Academic Program (AAP) News
Ability Testing
FCPS uses ability testing as one consideration of the holistic screening process for advanced academic services. Test scores are not weighted or prioritized in the holistic screening process.
- All students in Grade 1 take the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT).
- All students in Grade 2 take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT).
- NNAT and/or CogAT may be administered to students in Grades 3-6 who do not have an ability test score during the regularly scheduled testing windows.
Parents or guardians may request a one-time retest of either the CogAT or the NNAT in grades 3-6. Requests must be made during the fall testing windows. Please contact the school testing coordinator, Natalie Vershaw (nvershaw@fcps.edu), no later than September 15 to request the CogAT or October 15 for the NNAT.
Bonnie Brae AAP Overview Meeting
An information meeting will be held at Bonnie Brae on October 6, 2022, at 8:45 AM and virtually at 6:00 PM (Zoom). Our AART, Larissa Sheehan, will provide information about levels of service, explain the screening processes, and answer questions about advanced academic services. The same information will be presented at both meetings so you may select the session that works best with your schedule. Please contact Larissa Sheehan (ltsheehan@fcps.edu) to request translation services. Additional information relating to advanced academics at Bonnie Brae and FCPS will be communicated on our school website. Please bookmark this site for access to the latest AAP resources and updates. We hope to see you in October!

Parent Toolkit
The information shared below can also be found online in the Parent Toolkit.
Health Information and Emergency Care Forms
The Health Information Form (HIF) (SS/SE -71) Health Information Form and the Emergency Care Information form (SS/SE-3) Emergency Care Information provide valuable information regarding student health conditions.
For SY 22-23, these forms will be required for all students. Parents/guardians may submit these forms either through electronic submission accessed within the weCare@school (weCare) module; or thorough Back to School packets for those families without ParentVue accounts.
SR&R
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS).
- Please review, sign, and return the SR&R to Bonnie Brae in ParentVue.
- Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022.
Digital Resource Consent
At Bonnie Brae Elementary, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources. Please complete these forms so your child is able to access all resources.
Screen Activity Report for Parents
FCPS has tools to help parents and guardians know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families. You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours. Find out more and sign up for these services on our website. Learn more about our Lightspeed Parent Reports.
After School Activities
The PTO is seeking a volunteer to serve as the After School Programs Coordinator to organize some after school programs for Bonnie Brae.
If you are interested, please reach out to president@bonniebraepto.org to learn more.
PTO Meeting Reminder
The PTO will meet the third Thursday of each month at 7pm. We will meet via Zoom to enable the broadest participation as possible! Please join us for the first meeting next week on Thursday, September 15th.
