First Day Reflection
Our kindergartners' artwork featuring themselves on their first day of school lines the hallways...and they are all smiles! At KPES we strive hard to maintain the enthusiasm, excitement and the thrill of the first day for all our students; preschool- third grade! As our school song says, ...there's learning, and playing and much, much more. You will feel so welcome when you walk through our doors.

Labor Day Holiday, Sept 2 - Sept 5
Friday, Sept, 2, and Monday, Sept. 5, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.
Students Rights and Responsibilities
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by September 30, 2022. Please email your child's teacher for a hard copy of SR&R as needed.

Arrival/Dismissal Safety Reminders
Beginning this week we ask for caregivers to say their goodbyes at the designated building entrance. Should you arrive at school after 8:40am, please come to door 1 to sign your student in. For our walker families, please refrain from walking and crossing via the bus loop. We ask that you use the sidewalk closest to the playground and staff parking. For those families who wish to park and walk their students, we kindly ask you to park on Clydesdale to eliminate the need for dangerous U turns in the bus loop area. Thank you for your help with keeping everyone safe.
PTA News
Join the PTA. Thanks to everyone that has already joined the PTA for the 2022-2023 school year! We hope all families will consider joining this year. Being a PTA member has numerous benefits -- it's a great way to meet new friends and become more involved in your child's school and community. Join on our website! Keep in Touch with the PTA. A great way to keep in touch with the PTA is to subscribe to our newsletter and/or join our Facebook group. An updated PTA events calendar can also be found here. First PTA Meeting of the School Year. Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 8 at 7:00pm at Kings Glen (also available on zoom) for the first PTA meeting of the 2022-2023 school year! We will be voting on the PTA budget and look forward to discussing with the community everything we have planned.
PTA Ice Cream Social and Community Resource Fair. Please join us for the PTA's annual Ice Cream Social and Community Resource Fair on Friday, September 16 at 6:30pm at Kings Glen! Enjoy a cold treat and meet with some of our local after school and community vendors while the kids play on the playground.
Boosterthon Fun Run. The Boosterthon Fun Run is the PTA's largest fundraiser of each school year. We are excited to kick off this year's event with a digital kickoff on Wednesday, September 14 and the actual Fun Run on Friday, September 23. The PTA is looking forward to a fun event that supports our wonderful schools!
Fall after-school Activities. Registration will be opening up soon for the fall. Kings Park will offer chess, yoga, and coding, and Kings Glen will offer chess, Run Fit Kidz, and coding. Stay tuned for more details!
Volunteer with the PTA. Volunteering is certainly not a requirement of joining the PTA, but we are always looking for more help! Fill out the form on this page to let us know how you can help!
