Principal's Message

It is time! We were so excited to welcome nearly 1,000 guests during our EagleFest this week! There were many smiles and happy reunions as our Eagles walked the building and met familiar friends along the way.

Our teachers have also been quite busy this week preparing for the new year. This year, we will continue to focus on the Portrait of a Graduate attributes we fondly refer to as POG skills. Our teachers had team challenges all week that helped them grow in the five areas: Collaboration, Communication, Ethical & Global Citizen, Creative & Critical Thinker, and Goal-Directed and Resilient Individual. We hope you enjoy the picture collage of the teams in action!

Beginning on Monday, on school days, students may not be dropped off (or walk/bike ride) to enter the building before 7:10 AM. Please do not come early to line up as this creates a traffic jam preventing our staff from getting into the front parking lot. With recess occurring in the back of the school now, those parking spots are no longer eligible for staff parking. We have perfected our drop off so that we can get all of the cars unloaded in 10 minutes! Thank you for understanding and putting your child's safety first as you wait in the line to dismiss your student once your car is parallel to the front sidewalk. This video, KJMS Kiss & Ride, reviews our procedures.

In closing, thank you to the many generous parents who dropped off food donations for our luncheon on Friday. We have also included pics of the staff enjoying this time together as they found time for fellowship and getting to know new staff members. Enjoy your weekend! We can't wait to see all of our Eagles on Monday!

Emergency Care Updates in SIS ParentVUE

Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that the climate in all FCPS facilities is safe and secure. In support of this goal, FCPS provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system, available to FCPS parents and guardians who have registered for their own Parent account.

weCare helps manage emergency medical information by enabling parents to go online to enter and update their children’s medical data at their convenience. Contact information provided automatically enrolls parents to receive eNotify communications from the district and their child’s school. eNotify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closings and delays, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via email and text messages. Occasional phone messages are sent as well.

Get more information about updating your emergency care information.

Student's Lunch Number and Bus Information

LUNCH PIN NUMBERS: Parents should have already received an email containing your student's lunch number . Additionally, your child will receive an email before the first day of school also containing this information.

BUS INFORMATION: Transportation has sent out information on bus routes. This should have come through a phone call, text and or an email. This can also be found in SIS ParentVue and StudentVue. Helpful screenshots are included below. It may be better for your child to take the bus the first day so that they know the route, where the drop off is inside the school, and where to locate their bus at the end of the day as there is much assistance during the first days of school on the bus loop.
