Happy Friday Wolverines,

Countdown to first day of school is officially on!  We had a great start to our fall sports try outs.  It was nice to have kid energy back on campus.  We have been advertising our Wolverine Welcome on 8/19 from 3:30-5:30pm.  We are excited to announce a new feature of Wolverine Welcome, a teacher meet and greet!  All of our faculty and staff will be on campus in their rooms during Wolverine Welcome.  I want to encourage you to attend.  It will be a great opportunity to:

  • Walk the building following your schedule
  • Meet in-person your teachers
  • Pick up your laptop
  • Purchase a PE uniform
  • Attend a football scrimmage

Later in September we will have a virtual asynchronous course information site (aka virtual back to school night) where you will get presentations of course logistics and expectations from your child’s teachers in an online on demand format.

Staffing Updates

We continue to make progress on our vacancies.  As of today, we still have the vacancies listed below and are actively advertising and interviewing for these positions.

  • 1 Social Studies
  • 1 Mathematics (Geometry)
  • 2 Office Assistants (main office)
  • 1 Administrative Assistant (attendance office)
  • 2 Nursing
  • 1 EMT
  • 1 911
  • 1 JROTC
  • 4 Student Monitors (needed to help with hallways and bathrooms)
  • 2 long term school counseling substitutes
  • 5 Food Services professionals (see flyer below)

Construction Updates

We were given an update on Monday/Tuesday regarding our renovation project.  The new addition of 32 classrooms AND our new Kiss -n- Ride will be completed in/on time for school opening.  That is the good news—no more trailers.  The not so good news is, the connector to Springbank and the Cafeteria expansion will NOT be complete in time for opening of school.  As of now, the project managers are projecting completion on those areas by the end of September.  Given these constraints, we will need to continue to travel outside in between classes in order to access Springbank.  As soon as the connector and cafeteria are done, we will be a fully internally contained school having entry to the building all go through door 1 and door 1 only.  If you have been on campus in the last week, you may have noticed that doors have been renumbered from 1 (main entrance) all the way around the building to 28.

Continue to enjoy your final days of summer and we will see your soon!

Senior/Junior Parking

We will have student parking.  What we are waiting on is knowing exactly how many additional spaces will be added.  In the meantime, we can begin our process to collect names of those who would like to be considered for a parking pass.  As a reminder, the initial step is to sign up for consideration, it is NOT a guarantee of a parking pass.  We will collect and compile the list, on a first come first serve basis with Seniors having priority.  You can find the parking information on the West Potomac Homepage
