Principal's Message

soar

Dear Shrevewood Family,

Thank you to all of the families who attended our Kindergarten playdate this week. We look forward to welcoming all of our kindergarteners to the Shrevewood family in August. There are a couple of more playdates as well as Open House in the coming weeks which will provide your children with an opportunity to build relationships with students and staff.

Thank you to all of those who have already reached out about being a substitute here at Shrevewood. It is always powerful to see the support that we have from our community. We continue to work towards building our bank of at least 10 substitutes that are ready to support our school from day one. If you, or any of your extended family members, are interested in supporting these efforts and helping us to ensure that we have a proactive start to the school year, please email me at jjdesmyter@fcps.edu. We always appreciate and value our community's support.

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter & Katie Vandawalker

Class Placement Information

We know that you are excited to receive information regarding your student's class placement. Our goal is for families to receive their student's class placement via eNotify on Friday, August 12th!

Free and Reduced-Priced Meal Applications

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application.

The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage.

Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.

Summer Tutoring

Students have unlimited access to 24/7, on-demand, online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost to families.  Students can connect online any time, any place, and in most K-12 subjects for however long they need. Tutoring may be on-demand and/or scheduled at a time convenient for the student and/or family.

Paperless Opt-Outs Available!

As a part of our ongoing efforts to streamline paper processes, parents can now select a number of opt-out’s electronically via ParentVUE.  Once you have signed into your ParentVUE account, simply select the “Student Info” tab and click on “Edit Information.” You will find opt-out’s listed there.  Parents that do not yet have a ParentVUE account will still be able to use paper forms for notification. If you need to set up your ParentVUE account, you can create one online via the FCPS ParentVUE Registration page.
