Katherine Johnson MS - July 27, 2022

In this issue:

Principal's Message

It's that time again...

Eagle Families,

We hope that this email finds you on a beach somewhere relaxing, heading to a beach, spending time with families, or just returning from some well-needed vacation time. Or, perhaps your family is on a staycation! Maybe you are close to home with an Eagle in our amazing FCPS summer programming. Where ever you are, know we are excitedly planning to welcome your children back in the coming weeks to the halls of Katherine Johnson Middle School!

In August, we have several opportunities to have you come back into the school and interact with the admin team and the teachers. Please come as you can and do not feel pressured you must attend them all! We just want you to know you are valued and welcomed at KJMS. If these dates do not work, there will be many more opportunities throughout the year.

Enjoy the hot days of summer! They will be gone before you know it, and the cool nights of fall will bring Fairfax football games and fall festivals.

Your proud principal,

Tammy Silipigni

Be Wise, Immunize! Required Immunizations for 2022-23 School Year

Immunizations are required for public school entry and help keep students protected from serious diseases. Many children missed their well check-ups and their recommended childhood immunizations over recent years because of disruptions from COVID-19. It is critical to catch up now to keep children healthy and ready for school. Check with your students’ health care providers now to make sure they are up to date on their immunizations.

Appointments are required for most immunization clinics. Don’t wait until the last minute when you might not be able to find an appointment. Visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a schedule of clinics or schedule with your family’s health care provider.

Remember to request documentation of your child’s immunizations to provide to their school. More information on immunization requirements and the necessary documentation is available online.
