Majors achieve and thrive together with purpose and pride!
From September 15 to October 15, FCPS recognizes and celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of the members of our community whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. MVHS will be celebrating with a spirit week, a selfie station, music, dance, a parade, and trivia.
Principal Chat and PTSA Meeting
The first “Principal Chat” of the year will be Wednesday, September 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at at MVHS in room G100. Directly following the Principal Chat, we will have our first PTSA meeting.
We will discuss the following:
- Strategies for Strengthening the Parent/School Relationship
- Goals for the 22-23 school year
- Hot Topics
It isn’t too late to submit questions you would like to have answered during the “Hot Topics” session.
Superintendent Community Conversations
Please save the date for a very special event! Dr. Michelle Reid, FCPS superintendent, will host a Community Conversation at Mount Vernon High School on Monday, October 3, 2022, 6:30-7:30 p.m. This event will be a unique opportunity to help Dr. Reid get to know our school community and learn more about her vision for our district.
Language interpretation will be provided, as available, as well as child care and light refreshments. Please register here to attend.
Back to School Night

Student Services Updates
FCPS College Fair -- Look to the Future
The annual FCPS College Fair will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at George Mason University’s Eagle Bank Arena from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Approximately 250 colleges and universities will be represented, including two-and four-year colleges and US Service Academies.
Following the fair, Virtual Postsecondary Week will be held on Monday, October 17 to Thursday, October 20, 2022, each night from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. High school students and their families are encouraged to participate in the week's events. These events will help students be better prepared for the next chapter of their educational journey.
