Dear Island Creek Families,
We hope you and your families are enjoying a safe, fun summer that includes lots of reading! We are excitedly preparing for the 2022-2023 school year and are looking forward to welcoming our new and returning students and families. This update includes opportunities for students and families to connect and the Island Creek Back to School Extravaganza Save the Date. Additionally, we have included job opportunities at Island Creek for classroom monitors and substitutes.

Classroom Monitors: Island Creek is looking for several special people to serve as classroom monitors for the 2022-2023 school year! Pay is $15.73/hour. Monitors will work every day students attend school throughout the 2022-2023 school year, and will directly support classrooms by providing teachers with additional planning time. Monitors will be responsible for supervising students. Teachers will provide directions/assignments for monitors and students to complete. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our school throughout the year, and monitors will experience all classroom environments (general education, special education, and specials classes such as art/music/PE). Substitute Teachers: FCPS and Island Creek Elementary need substitute teachers and substitute instructional assistants. Substitute teaching is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, retirees, college students, and anyone who wants a flexible work schedule. Like many school districts across the region and country, FCPS is looking for kind and caring substitute teachers to ensure our students continue to thrive when teachers need to be out of the building. If you are interested in working as a substitute teacher or a substitute instructional assistant, you are able to set parameters for the days you are available, the grade levels you would like to teach, or the schools where you want to assist!
If you would like to learn more about becoming a substitute teacher or instructional assistant, FCPS is offering virtual information sessions. Sessions are held weekly on Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. Candidates will receive an email link to the virtual information session the Monday before the session.
