Island Creek's New Principal, Jen Fallert

Dear Island Creek Families,

My name is Jen Fallert, and it is with sincere enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you as your new Principal at Island Creek Elementary. I am excited to be coming home to Island Creek where I was a Croc Staff member for 8 years (2003-2011), serving as a Classroom Teacher and Special Education Teacher. I was also an Island Creek parent as my sons attended Island Creek for two years. I feel extremely fortunate to have been selected to become a member of this wonderful school community. As I join the Island Creek Team, I remain committed to supporting and collaborating with teachers, students, and parents as we move forward into the 2022-2023 school year.

My educational career has been with Fairfax County Public Schools. For ten years I was a Classroom Teacher and, for the following 10 years, I was a Special Education Teacher. I have been an Assistant Principal at two Fairfax County Public Schools. Throughout my career, a commitment to equity with ensuring every child has their needs met by building upon each child’s strengths has been at the forefront of my work with children, colleagues, and families and look forward to partnering with all families to continue that journey.

On a personal note, my husband and I have 3 amazing children – Mason (20), a rising junior at UVA; Ethan (18), a rising freshman at GMU; and, Marissa (12), a rising 7^th Grader at Irving Middle School. We also have 2 dogs and 3 cats who get along amazingly well!

I have been meeting one-on-one with staff members and have met many of the Island Creek children in the SACC and PAC summer programs. Next week, I look forward to meeting the Crocs participating in the B2K, SOAR, and Young Scholars Programs at ICES. I welcome the opportunity to connect with parents and guardians, as well.

I know that Island Creek is a special place that serves a community with heart, and I am so fortunate to be a part of this family again. I am excited to get to know each of your families and am looking forward to partnering with Island Creek families and staff to continue the Island Creek tradition of academic excellence and social-emotional well-being for all students.
