Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

What a week and year it has been. It is hard to believe we have closed out the final days of instruction for the 2021-22 school year. Next week, students will be busy showing what they know through the completion of final assessments. We truly wish them luck as they complete final exams and/or culminating activities.

We kick off this week’s message with a great news! William Orr and Erika Li are National Merit Scholarship winners! Out of the 1.4 million juniors who took the PSAT this school year, they were among a group of approximately 2,500 students nationally who will receive funding directly from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. We are truly proud of these Saxons.

Langley students Ben Mahdessian and Sam Troy represented FCPS at the International Science & Engineering Fair in Atlanta, GA. They were the Grand Prize winners at the FCPS Regional Science Fair in the category of Energy: Sustainable Materials and Design for their project “The Effectiveness of Various Hydroelectric Turbines”. Way to go, Ben and Sam!

A tremendous Saxon thank you to the Old Firehouse Center of McLean for providing doughnuts to our staff.

Congratulations to Langley High School Class of 2022! We thank you for your contributions to our school
community over the past four years! You will be missed!

Boys soccer will square off against McLean today at 4:00 for the Northern Region Championship. Our girls will play Robinson at 7:00 this evening in state quarter finals. Best of luck to both teams!

As we close out this school year, I would like to thank each of you for all you do to support our school. Each day, our students excel in a myriad of ways and this is due to the dedication and partnership of our parents and staff. I truly count leading this building as one of my life’s greatest blessings.

Over the past two years, we have faced many challenges and obstacles created by Covid. No matter what, our students have remained focused and our teachers committed to providing the best educational opportunities possible for all students.

I wish each of you blessings over the summer. It is my hope this summer provides an opportunity for total rest for everyone because it is truly deserved. Relax, rejuvenate and restore. I look forward to reconnecting with you in August.

Hail Saxons!

Fondly,
