Dear Stenwood Families,
This has been a week that weighs heavily on the hearts of all the adults in our community. We strive every day to make Stenwood a happy and safe place for your children to come, and it is hard to watch the tragedy unfold at Robb Elementary School. While we have not addressed the tragedy directly with our students, we know that some of our older students are more likely to be aware of it. If you need any additional resources for any conversations at home, please feel free to reach out to our mental health team. I have included a chart of their contact information below. As we do multiple times a year, we will be reviewing FCPS’ safety and security protocols.
Thank you to our amazing PTA for such a fun night at the Flip Flop Hop! I know everyone who attended had a fabulous time and it was so wonderful to celebrate the end of the year approaching. Our PTA has also brought the amazing science labs to some of our classes this week. If your child has not had an opportunity to, they will be enjoying it next week. All of the students have absolutely loved it, so make sure to ask your child about it.
The next couple weeks are quite busy! We have science labs, SCA Installation, our Band and Strings Concert, Battle of the Books, a few parent invite events, end of the year parties, the Variety Show, and of course our 6th grade Promotion Ceremony! We look forward to all of the celebrations!
This time of year also brings mixed emotions because we have to say goodbye to some of our beloved staff.
- Lisa Devore - Congratulations to Lisa who is retiring after many years of helping shape many of our amazing artists!
- Brie Broesicke will be staying home with her newest baby girl Lucy next year!
- Ild Saruul is expecting a baby boy this summer and will be taking next year to be a stay at home dad!
- Stephanie Utterson will be taking an exciting adventure to teach in China next year
- Robin Walls is pursuing a dream to become a librarian and is heading to a middle school in Prince William
- Lorrie Appleton our Social Worker is retiring after many years of service to our families in FCPS.
- Mary Ann Schall, our health room assistant, will be retiring to enjoy more time on her boat.
We look forward to introducing you to our new staff over the summer!

Tech Adventure Camp!
There are still slots available for FCPS's Summer Tech Adventure Camp!
 Tech Adventure Camp (TAC) is a weekly exploratory camp designed to give students the opportunity to explore STEAM, culinary, health, trades, business and marketing areas. The camp is open to students in grades 2-6 during the 2021-22 school year.
Registration closes June 17th, 2022. Free and reduced lunch options and tuition assistance are available.
