A Note from Principal Eck

Class of 2022Class of 2016

SHES Class of 2016 is now the Proud Graduating Class of 2022

Dear Spring Hill Families,

Knowing that school safety is at the forefront of our minds and hearts, I want to remind our community of the safety measures that we have in place for our students. School safety protocols include the following:

  1. Classroom doors and exterior doors are kept locked at all times.
  2. When visitors to Spring Hill ring our front doorbell, our front office staff is able to see them on camera and ask their purpose for the visit.
  3. All visitors must have either an FCPS badge or a visitor sticker displayed.  In order to obtain a sticker, visitors must scan a form of identification, such as a valid driver’s license. A photo of the visitor is taken and displayed on the sticker.
  4. We conduct regular safety drills in accordance with FCPS and state mandates.
  5. More information can be found on the FCPS website here, including mental health resources.

FCPS has one of the most advanced school security systems in the nation, and we continue to assess our protocols to ensure the safest learning and working environment possible. We are partners in keeping our students safe in school, and we ask you to speak with your child and remind them that when they see or hear something concerning, to reach out to a trusted adult who can contact the authorities, or use our safety tip line. I also encourage you to be aware of your child’s online actions and to have an open conversation about making safe and smart choices online.

If your child is experiencing anxiety or stress, our clinical team is here to help:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kiss & Ride Changes June 8

On Wednesday, June 8th, Kiss and Ride will be adjusted and the back parking lot will be closed due to the 6th grade party. This means that only the Kiss and Ride small loop and front parking lot will be open for drop-off traffic.  Please plan on either dropping off your student a little earlier or parking at the Rec Center and walking your students across the street. For your convenience, we will open our doors at 8:15 AM and have students report to the cafeteria until the first bell rings. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Summer Program Opportunities for 4th and 5th Graders

We are now accepting applications for our Summer SOAR program. It is an opportunity for students to continue with their learning and prepare for the next school year. The program is from July 11 to July 29th (8:55-12:55 pm). Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided. The program will focus on Language Arts and Math. Please email igperotti@fcps.edu if you have any questions or would like to apply. Space is limited but we welcome all applications. Thank you so much!

SOL and Other Scores/ParentVUE Accounts

SOL scores for our 3rd-6th graders as well as iReady scores, grades K-6, will be available mid-July in ParentVue (ParentSIS). In mid-July, parents will also receive a mailing of the SEL screener results. All parents should have their ParentSIS account set up so they can receive important information on their students. The ParentSIS platform is how testing scores, including SOLs are communicated to parents. If you do not have an account, please visit here.  There are separate accounts available for each parent/guardian if you would like individual ones.

Laptop Collection

It's that time of year! Laptops need to be collected before the end of the school year. ALL laptops and power adapters need to be turned into your child's teacher by Friday, June 3rd. Students will not take laptops home over the last weekend of school. Students may keep their laptop cases to be used again next school year. Please note that items not returned or lost will be billed for the cost to replace them ($472 laptop / $28 power adapter).

Students attending ESY will be able to keep their laptops. If your child falls into this category, please reach out to our TSSPEC, Jose Heredia-Serrano (jlherediaser@fcps.edu), to make an appointment to return the laptop when ESY is finished.

Order Your School Supplies

As a convenience, you may order your student's supply kit by no later than May 31st to be entered into a drawing to win your kit for free! Go to www.sproutsupplies.com and use the school code SHES002.

Library Books

With 2 weeks left of school, it is time to return all library books. Please look around your home, backpack, and classroom for any library books and return them as soon as possible. A list of books checked out to each student will be emailed after school on Tuesday, May 31. A printed copy will be sent home on Thursday, June 2. Please email SpringHillLibrary@fcps.edu with any questions. Thank you!
