CareerDay

Volunteers Needed: 6th Grade Career Day

Forestville’s annual 6th Grade Career Day will take place on Friday, June 3rd. The tentative time for this event is 2:00-3:30pm. In order to make this event memorable for our 6th graders, we are looking for volunteers to serve as our Career Day presenters. Presenters will need to prepare a 15-minute presentation that focuses on how the presenter became interested in their career and the responsibilities involved with that career.

Please email Sophie Biggar (sabiggar@fcps.edu) if you are interested in participating. Thank you!

HealthRoom

School Medication Update

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.   A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.

End of Year Celebration Reminder

Forestville Elementary School is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students. As you know, many children are at risk of having serious reactions to certain foods. Whole-class treats are not permitted to be distributed for birthdays, class parties, etc.  Students may each bring their own treats for classroom celebrations. Together, parents, families, and the school can keep the environment safe, healthy, and happy for everyone. We are committed to allowing all of our students to participate in celebratory activities while maintaining a safe environment for all. Thank you for your understanding and support in ensuring the safety and health of our Forestville Elementary students.

Immunization Update for Rising 7th Grade Students

Effective July 1, 2021 all students entering 7th grade will be required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school:  Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), and Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY). Seventh grade students cannot begin school in August without proper documentation.  Please contact Ms. Huong Tran, our Registrar, at httran2@fcps.edu, if you have any questions.

FCPS' Family Return to School Survey Is Coming Soon

Now that FCPS has transitioned back to a more typical school experience, the school division is interested in hearing from parents/caregivers about how the school year has gone for their students. You will have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which will open Tuesday, May 31, and close Friday, June 10.

The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division. We encourage all FCPS parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.
