Lemon Road Community News 5.21.22

Message from Mrs. Castillo

Movie Night

Thank you to the PTA and volunteers that made Movie Night a smashing success! It may have been hot, but that doesn't stop the Lemon Road community from having a fantastic time together!.

FCPS has seen a recent increase in COVID-19 cases and outbreaks and parents/guardians are reminded of the daily health screening requirement to check their students for mild, cold-like symptoms each day, such as fever, runny nose, cough, or shortness of breath. Parents should keep their children home if sick and get them tested to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

We have three weeks left in the 21-22 school year, we will make them count!

Parent Reminders:

  • Order school supplies for next year through EPI: order here with school code:  LEM016
  • Sign up to visit classrooms to support college and career week: May 23 - June 3
  • Please volunteer for Field Day (AM or PM) on Friday, June 3
  • Help out the PTA to plan for the budget by completing the LRES Polo survey
  • Donate books for the Summer Bookmobile by dropping them off until May 27 at school

Band & Strings Recruitment

Music

Starting in 4th grade, our lions have the opportunity to be a part of an instrumental ensemble. Rising 4th graders may sign up to learn violin, viola, cello or bass. In addition to those four instruments, rising 5th and 6th graders have the option to learn: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba or percussion. Please fill out this Google form by June 10th to submit your child’s intention for next school year: https://forms.gle/AYa9nNeP1pCcBi8x8.

You can direct strings questions to Ms. Su (asu@fcps.edu) and band questions to Ms. Eyink (jaeyink@fcps.edu).

Return Library Books Soon

Library

Please help your child return all their library books by Tuesday, May 31.   If you have searched and are unable to locate a book, contact Ms. Burke, goburke@fcps.edu/703-714-6447, for next steps.  Check out this link - How to Check Your Library Account.  Thanks for your help!

End of Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal (12:55 PM) on the last day of school June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.   A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.

Questions may be directed to Ms. Monts in the Lemon Road health room, 703-714-6400.
