Dear Kent Gardens' Families,

Here we go!  We have three weeks left - unbelievable!  We have worked our way through the SOLs (Standards of Learning) and have strong results.  So wonderful to celebrate the students' achievement but also recognize our teachers for their dedication to a high level of instruction. The results will be in ParentVue soon - we will update you with the timeframe.

We have so much to look forward to in the next few weeks!  A snapshot includes the following:

  • Field Day!  This event is a favorite of all - please put in your good wishes for temperate weather (not too hot nor rain!)
  • Concerts!  Band, strings and chorus will all be performing.  Details will be shared by our instructors. Thanks to ALL of them for their hard work!
  • Kindergarten Year End - They will sing for us on June 1st!
  • #kgpride Celebration - we will continue to recognize #kgpride ~ 'Doing our Best' this week!  Two more weeks to go - our bucket is filling!!
  • Sixth Grade Promotion and Celebration - June 8th is the big day!

Note that we will begin to disclose end of year reminders around library books 5/27, medications, 6/10 and technology (see below).  See the highlights below with the due dates! Please do be mindful and support your child(ren) with meeting these deadlines.

Please make sure you health screen your child before sending them to school on May 23rd. The new quarantine is 5 days with a return after that time with masking and no symptoms.  We appreciate your support in keeping our Kent Gardens community healthy!  For parent convenience, click here for the Daily Health Questionnaire.

Thanks for your continued support!

End of Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time (1:35 PM) on the last day of school June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.   A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.

Questions may be directed to the Kent Gardens' health room, PHN Ramita Rana, rrana1@fcps.edu.

Family Return to School Survey

Now that FCPS has transitioned back to a more typical school experience, the school division is interested in hearing from parents/caregivers about how the school year has gone for their students. You will have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which will open Tuesday, May 31, and close Friday, June 10.

The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division. We encourage all FCPS parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.

Technology Support - ParentVue

If you or your child is experiencing issues with technology, a Student Portal is available for parents, guardians, or students to submit a request directly for technology help. For parent support with  SIS or Schoology, submit a request for help through the Parent Portal.  Progress reports will be available in ParentVue. Note that you can also seek additional information regarding ParentVue in this link. As noted above, progress reports are available online on January 29th.
