Dear Franklin Sherman Families,
We are in the last few weeks of school; and what busy weeks they will be! We are looking forward to celebrating the year with many of our traditions: our 6th grade musical, concerts and celebrations. As we plan for these important milestones, we continue to do so with consideration for the health and safety of all participants. In that spirit, you may notice some changes to participation or timing to allow for the greatest possible social distancing while still having community events.
As you know, COVID-19 cases have been increasing in Fairfax County and in schools. Here at Franklin Sherman, we have seen an increase in cases and continue to encourage everyone to take the steps they feel necessary to stay safe and healthy.
Due to recent COVID-19 outbreaks in our school, we have postponed the 6th Grade Musical to June 7.
Our Strings/Band/Chorus concert on June 1 will be scheduled to allow families to time their arrival based on the group/groups in which your child participates. You will receive the schedule from our Music Team.
I appreciate the patience, support, and understanding you have shown throughout this school year as we adjust our response to the pandemic. Together, we have kept our students participating in learning and activities. I look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with everyone.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Kathleen Quigley
Principal

FCPS' Family Return to School Survey Is Coming Soon
Now that FCPS has transitioned back to a more typical school experience, the school division is interested in hearing from parents/caregivers about how the school year has gone for their students. You will have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which will open Tuesday, May 31, and close Friday, June 10.
The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division. We encourage all FCPS parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.

Reminders
2022-23 Planning
Help us get an accurate estimate student enrollment for next school year. Enrollment can be difficult to predict and having an estimate that is as accurate as possible is important for many reasons including student teacher ratio and budget allocation. Tell us about the enrollment intention of your child today by filling out this form and emailing it to our Registrar, Ann Rajabi.
All families should submit this form including those who will remain enrolled at Franklin Sherman and families with 6th Grade students who will be moving on to middle school.
Virtual Book Fair
The Virtual Book Fair will remain open till the end of the school year. Purchases benefit our FSES library. Be sure to check out our teacher wish lists. What better way to thank your child's classroom teacher than with a book or two from her/his wish list. You may also purchase books or make a money donation to Homestretch, serving parents and children experiencing homelessness at this time in our community.
