It’s Race Day!

Over the last couple of weeks, students in Engineering classes have been racing their CO2 cars. Students individually designed and built their cars. Pictured above are just a few of the outstanding designs and Ms. Marshall setting up cars to be raced down the 2-class length track.

8th Grade Celebration - Friday, June 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm

  • The purpose of the 8th grade celebration is to have fun and celebrate one last time as a class with our 8th grade students before they head out for the summer and on to high school.
  • Only 8th grade students attending Irving Middle School may attend.
  • The 8th grade celebration is NOT a formal event
  • Students should be comfortable to dance and likely take a lot of pictures in our step and repeat section. In previous years, students have worn a pair of slacks and a collared shirt or a skirt/blouse or dress, again NO formal attire or high heels are required or recommended for this event (often high heels are taken off within about 10 minutes of arriving…).
  • Students often attend in groups, so having a “date” is NOT a requirement to attend.
  • We will be utilizing outdoor spaces for the event - fingers crossed for good weather!
  • We need volunteers to make this celebration a success - please see the link below to volunteer as a chaperone for the 8th Grade Celebration. Thank you in advance for helping us make this celebration a successful event for our students.

Student Laptop Chargers

It is important that all students charge laptops each night, as we do not have the ability to charge them in classrooms at the beginning of each day. For students who need to purchase a replacement charger, the cost is $23. Chargers can be purchased two ways:

  1. Go to MySchoolBucks and pay for one online and then pick it up from the Tech Office the next day.

  2. Send a check made out to Irving MS with your student to school. They will take it to the Tech Office in the morning and pick up a replacement charger   at the same time.

Library News

Can you believe this school year is winding down?  That means that in the coming weeks we will be asking that all library books be returned.  All books are due Friday, May 27 and that's just over 2 weeks away!!  Start looking for those long forgotten library books now and return them.  If you are still reading a book and do not finish it by May 27th, come and talk to Ms. Monk or Mrs. Gawalt.
