The Sunrise Valley Physical Education Department will be hosting a bike safety unit for grades 4-6 ONLY. This unit is designed to bring bike safety and health awareness to students at this level. The bike safety unit will take place from May 16 through May 20, 2022. The area to be used will be the back parking lot of the school, which will be blocked off from cars daily.
The physical education department will supply 32 BMX bikes and helmets to share with all students in grades 4-6. Helmets will be cleaned on a daily bases and hair nets will have to be worn by each child to prevent any transmission of germs or lice; we have an endless supply of hair nets as well.
If your child has a bike helmet, they are encouraged to bring it to school and have it available to wear each day for PE. We encourage students not to share their personal helmet with any other student during this unit. If carrying the helmet daily is too much for them, they may leave it with the PE Department, where we will store it for safety. Please have your child write their first and last name on their helmets if this option is chosen.
