SEES Band & Strings 2022-2023

On Friday, May 20, there will be a demonstration assembly of band and strings instruments for rising 4-6th graders to consider for the next school year.  You may not be aware, but before COVID disrupted the usual school schedule, SEES had the largest and most recognized band and strings program in all of Fairfax County – almost all of our students grades 4-6 played an instrument!  We want to continue that tradition of excellence at SEES.

The day of the demonstration assembly, students will be given intention forms for the instrument they are interested in playing – ALL STUDENTS will need to return a form (whether they intend to play an instrument or not), as they are used to formulate next year’s specials schedule. We encourage ALL students to play an instrument in band or strings!

  • Students grades 4-6 can study a strings instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass).
  • Students grades 5-6 can study a band instrument (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion).

Some instruments can be rented from the school, and there are reduced rental rates for lower income families.  If you have any questions prior to the instrument demonstration/enrollment period, please feel free to contact:
