Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We’ve had a busy week in the hive and are looking forward to a lot of fun and excitement next week! Next Thursday is Field Day- one of our favorite school traditions for our students in all grade levels.  Please see the section below if you are able to lend a hand during the morning session! We also have the Flip Flop Hop coming up at the end of next week.  We hope to see everyone there.  Make sure to enter the raffle for some of our teacher and staff prizes!

As Covid numbers continue to rise across the county and at Stenwood, please make sure to monitor your children for any possible symptoms and perform a covid test if necessary.

Volunteers Still Needed for Field Day on Thursday, May 19th

Field Day

This has been run for several weeks in the PTA’s Wednesday Mail.  They are still looking for volunteers for the upper grades in the morning.  Please consider signing up!

Stenwood Field Day is a FUN school activity organized by our teachers where each class spends 2 hours rotating through 10 different activity stations. Want to get involved? The PTA is helping to organize volunteers for both the morning session (3rd-6th) and afternoon session (K-2nd). Volunteers usually work a single station for the whole session – no special skills required!

Clubs and Activities Applications Due 5/23

It is the time of year where our applications for clubs and activities are being considered for next year.  Applications for all of the clubs and activities listed below are being distributed yesterday and today.  Additional applications can be picked up in Ms. Fucile’s room.  Completed applications must be submitted by May 23rd in Ms. Fucile’s room to be considered.  It is the responsibility of the student to turn in the application.

Library Book Return

Return Library Books

As the school year comes to a close, we need to round up library books.  Students will still be able to check out books until the last week of May, but it would be very helpful to Mrs. Cole if we got books back that have been at home for some time.

Students can log into Destiny Discover - through the library Schoology course – to find out what books they have checked out.  Thank you for your help in getting books back and as always, please contact Mrs. Cole with any questions.”

Lost and Found

As the weather gets warmer in the afternoons, our Lost and Found is growing.  Our amazing Photo Bees, with the help of Mrs. Krum, have digitally photographed the collection.  Here is a Lost and Found Video Slideshow of the items through last week.

Lost and Found

If you see any items that belong to your family, please reach out to our Family Liaison, Maria Agha magha@fcps.edu with the item number(s) of the items you are missing and she will help return them to your family.  We will create a new video in May with items between now and then.

SOL Dates for 3rd-6th Graders

Students in our school will be taking the SOL tests between May 3rd and May 27th. Here are the remaining dates for scheduled SOL sessions:

Please notify Meredith Mitchell (mamitchell@fcps.edu) if you become aware of an unavoidable conflict that could result in missing a SOL test day or if you have questions about state assessments.
