1.  From the Principal's Desk

Dear Members of the Chantilly HS Community:

I’m very pleased to share that Subschool 4 Assistant Principal Amy Parmentier has been named our new Director of Student Services! Amy is an accomplished educator with a long track record of success in the Chantilly HS community, and she is exceptionally qualified for her new role. Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal at Franklin Middle School and Chantilly HS, Amy served as the FCPS Coordinator for Social Work in the Department of Special Services. She has degrees from the University of Mary Washington (Bachelor of Arts in English) and the University of Maryland (Master of Social Work). Most important, Amy is 100% dedicated to our students and bringing out the best in others. Amy will transition from Assistant Principal to Director of Student Services on July 1st.

Please join me in welcoming Amy to her new role!

Scott

Congratulations to the Chantilly Theatre Department on their four CAPPIES Nominations for Into the Woods!  Click here for results.  The CAPPIES Gala will be held at the Kennedy Center on Monday, June 6th.  Theatre students from the Northern VA, DC and Maryland have been nominated in various performance, production and designed based categories, similar to the Tony Awards.   It is a spectacular evening of celebrating theatre arts in our schools; stay tuned for the final results!

Audiences raved about our stellar Theatre for Young Audiences production of Space Princess Wars. Our Drama 1 and Drama 2 students and technicians put on a great performance for audiences of all ages!

CHS will welcome twenty-five middle and high school band programs from the DMV region for our 40th annual Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival!  The CIJF provides an opportunity for high school, professional jazz musicians, and  educators to share, learn, and compete.  Over the years, bands, combos, and jazz ensembles from Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia have participated.  In addition to this year’s middle school and high school ensembles, we’re delighted to welcome the Doc Dikeman Big Band and the US Army Blues as feature ensembles this year!  Click here for a schedule.

4.  Recent Student Successes

This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students.  I meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.
