On Thursday, May 12, a modified bell schedule will be implemented to accommodate SOL testing. Parents/guardians are asked to remind their child about this modified schedule. The Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry SOL tests will be administered on May 12. Students will be reminded of this schedule change by staff members; however, parents/guardians are asked to remind their child about this modified schedule as well.

Volunteers Needed from ALL Grades - 2022 All Night Graduation Party

The Class of 2022 All Night Graduation (ANG) Party is coming up on June 1-2 (10:30 PM - 5:00 AM) at the high school.  This party had been a tradition at Herndon High School for over 20 years prior to the pandemic - and is back for the first time since 2019!

ANG is an all night event sponsored by the PTSA to provide a fun-filled evening of games, food, entertainment and prizes in a well-chaperoned, drug and alcohol-free environment to help keep our seniors safe on graduation night.

Many volunteers are needed to make this a fun event! All grade level parents are encouraged to volunteer to support the senior families and see what the All Night Graduation Party is all about!  Due to the pandemic, knowledge about the event has been diminished so it would be really helpful for the underclass parents to attend as it will facilitate your planning efforts in future years.

Please sign up below if you are able to assist with any available spots   https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c4ca9ae2e5-allnight

Thank you all so much! Your support is GREATLY appreciated!

AP Testing Volunteers Needed

Herndon High School is in need of volunteers to help with AP Testing May 2-May13.  These individuals will be assisting the head proctors in charge of the exams and their duties will include checking ID’s, handing out and collecting tests, monitoring the test takers and counting tests when finished. Volunteers must be over 18 years old and a high school graduate. We also love any college students who would like to volunteer. Please email Shannon Kamenick at sfkamenick@fcps.edu if you would like to help out.

You know it’s almost summer when SYNC Audiobooks for Teens returns with free audiobook downloads. Their free season has started, and runs through mid-August. Two titles are available each week, and change every Thursday. Once you’ve downloaded a title, it’s yours to keep forever. Find all of the details here.

Students can log in to Destiny (using their school Google account) to search for books, put books on hold, see what they have checked out, and renew their books. MackinVIA (linked through Destiny or available as an app) offers hundreds of popular ebooks and e-audiobooks that students can check out 7 days a week/ 24 hours a day. We love to make recommendations based on student interests.

As the end of the school year approaches, please keep the following due dates in mind. Seniors should return all library books by Tuesday, May 17. All other students should return their materials by Friday, May 27. Information about summer checkout for returning 9th – 11th graders will be posted on Schoology soon.  Students will need to have a clear account to check books out for the summer.

Did you know the library is open late several days a week? On Mondays we are open till 3:30, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays we’re open till after the late buses depart. If your student would like to enjoy the library later than our posted hours, please have them talk with us.
