Principal's Message: 5/7/2022

Good Morning Parents and Families:

It has been another event-filled week at Stone and I am so grateful for our students and families who helped make this such a memorable and special educator appreciation week.

While we have so many upcoming events to celebrate the end of the year, SOL testing is also upon us.

We begin SOL testing this week with an adjusted schedule for students. The adjusted schedules will be posted in Schoology. The adjusted schedule is only for May 11 & May 13.

  • Wednesday May 11: Reading 7 and Reading 8
  • Friday May 13: All Math
  • Thursday May 19: Science 8 (During students' Science classes)
  • Friday May 20: Science 8 (During students' Science classes)

Please fill out the Parent Permission to Retest Form to let the school know whether you allow your child to retest or not.  Once all tests are complete, there is a retake window for any student whose first attempt score is in the 375-399 range. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact Stone’s school test coordinator, Kristina O’Boyle (703.631.5968) or kmoboyle@fcps.edu).

I look forward to continuing to share and highlight all the many great things going on in our school community each day. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly if you need anything. Wishing all of our mothers a relaxing and Happy Mother's Day!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Meredith Norris
Principal

Student Services Updates:
We are excited to offer an opportunity to our current 8th graders to participate in a Rising 9th grade orientation field trip to Westfield High School on Monday, May 23rd from 9:45am-11:15am.  During this time, students will hear from a student panel, learn about clubs and activities, tour the building and meet members of the Westfield team. There is no cost to attend and students will eat lunch when they return to Stone.

We need parent permission for all students to ride the bus to Westfield and participate in all aspects of this field trip. Please complete the permission slip on the back of this letter to your child’s Panther Block teacher by Friday, May 13th. Please look for this permission slip to come home with your child next week.

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact Tami Brumett, our Director of Student Services at 703-631-5527 or TLBrumett@fcps.edu

Yearbook Sales
The yearbook is now on sale for $25.00 on MySchoolBucks. You will be able to purchase the book online until June 9th or until books have sold out. Order now to ensure your child has a book to celebrate our first full year back in the building!
