Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

May this week’s message be a bright spot on this rainy day. Let’s celebrate!

1
Congratulations to the senior girls’ soccer players and their parents!

2
Congratulations to seniors on the baseball team!

3
Congratulations to our senior boys’ tennis players Parker Hoang, Tavian Jones and William Bertin.

4
We salute the members of our Best Buddies chapter who participated in last weekend’s Friendship Walk which was held on The National Mall.

5
A huge shout out to our very own Alex Dell’Atti (right) who was selected to speak at the event.

6
The Medical Club was recently visited by the Vienna Volunteer Fire Dept Ambulance.

Langley's Model United Nations team competed in Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology’s Model UN Conference this past weekend. Our team won the BEST LARGE TEAM DELEGATION award (equivalent to FIRST PLACE). In addition, MOST of our students won individual awards, which are listed below.  Best Delegation is equivalent to first place, Outstanding Delegation is equivalent to second place, Honorable Delegation is equivalent to third place, and Verbal Commendation is equivalent to fourth place.

The club acknowledges three seniors, for their leadership, help, and dedication:  McKenzie Hiek, Danyal Ashraf, and Lauren Sung. I would like to give a special shout-out to McKenzie as he was the sole officer to attend the conference and he did an outstanding job at the conference (and this year) mentoring younger members of the team.

Thank you to our PTSA for today’s wonderful luncheon they provided to celebrate Teacher’s Appreciation Week!

In less happy news, I must share that after eleven amazing years, our College and Career Specialist, Ms. Hannah Wolff, will be leaving Langley for a new opportunity.  We are so incredibly thankful for the tremendous work she has done on behalf of all students as an invaluable member of our Student Services Department.  Her depth of knowledge was only matched by the energy and enthusiasm which she brought to every interaction.  We are sad to see her go but wish her the very best as she sets out on another chapter in her journey.  Dr. Peterson will be reaching out specifically to junior parents in the weeks to come to discuss greater details regarding the transition.

Moms, I wish each of you a very Happy Mother’s Day. If you’re looking for a special treat, come out to Saxon Stage’s production of Freaky Friday. Final performances are this evening at 7pm and tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. May each of you have a blessed weekend.

Fondly,

3
