Principal's Message: 4/30/2022

Good Morning Parents and Families:

It was another eventful week as we close out April with several celebrations and many opportunities for students to engage in hands-on learning. I loved all the activities students were able to be a part of during our wellness and maker's week. You can read more about it below.

Additionally, our students continue to work hard as they prepare for upcoming assessments, end-of-year performances and concerts, projects and participate in the track and field unit in Health and PE. I went back to my running days for just a short moment earlier this week when I had the chance to run the mile with Mr. Auger's 7th period class. As I share so often, I love the many moments I am able to spend with students in their classes. This opportunity was no exception as we all were a little tired after running the "dreaded" mile.

This week we honor and celebrate our amazing staff as part of Educator's Appreciation Week. In addition to opportunities provided below, I encourage you to drop a quick note of thanks to your child's teachers. I thank you for your continued partnership and support; I look forward to seeing you through the coming weeks as we celebrate the end of the school year.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly (mcnorris@fcps.edu) if you have questions, comments or concerns.

Enjoy the weekend,

Meredith Norris
Principal
Stone Middle School

Student Services Updates:
We are excited to offer an opportunity to our current 8th graders to participate in a Rising 9th grade orientation field trip to Westfield High School on Monday, May 23rd from 9:45am-11:15am.  During this time, students will hear from a student panel, learn about clubs and activities, tour the building and meet members of the Westfield team. There is no cost to attend and students will eat lunch when they return to Stone.

We need parent permission for all students to ride the bus to Westfield and participate in all aspects of this field trip. Please complete the permission slip on the back of this letter to your child’s Panther Block teacher by Friday, May 13th. Please look for this permission slip to come home with your child next week.

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact Tami Brumett, our Director of Student Services at 703-631-5527 or TLBrumett@fcps.edu
