Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

As we close out April, things are hopping in Saxon Country! We begin this week’s edition with a tremendous thank you to our school’s administrative assistants. Their hard work and dedication truly keep our school on track. We sincerely thank them for helping to make Saxon Country a welcoming place for students, staff and parents.

A huge shout out to the following who students participated in the State History Day Contest this past weekend.  They are now moving on to the National Competition.

• Jacqueline Gauthier - The Antarctic Treaty: Choosing Peace for a Frozen Continent

On Tuesday, Gregg Wieczorek, President of the National Association of Secondary School Principals visited Langley. He was thoroughly impressed by our amazing students and staff!

Congratulations to Ms. Kathleen Stankiewicz on being selected Virginia History Day District Teacher of the Year. She is one of 7 teachers from across the state who won this prestigious recognition! 

The Virginia History Day District Teacher of the Year Award is awarded to seven Virginia educators, one from each of the VHD geographic districts, who participate in the Virginia History Day program. Award recipients demonstrate an understanding of history and enthusiasm for the subject; foster a spirit of inquiry and the development of critical thinking skills among students; use and promote innovative and creative teaching techniques and materials; and provide leadership in the field of history education.

Today, is senior College Day! Congratulations to the Class of 2022 on their selections!
