Principal's Message

Dear Shrevewood Families,

We had a very exciting week this week! We welcomed rising kindergarteners and their families to Shrevewood with guided tours on Tuesday evening. Many classes took a field trip to see Marshall High School's production of Frog & Toad. If you have not seen it yet, we highly recommend you visit. There are many showtimes this weekend and it is a funny, entertaining and kid-friendly production. Sixth Graders also took a trip to Philadelphia on Thursday to visit historic sites and connect their learning to real life places.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks,

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Susie Lilburn, Assistant Principal

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week starts on Monday!

The PTA’s Appreciation Committee is celebrating the amazing staff at Shrevewood throughout the week, but we need YOUR help to make this week extra special. Aside from our wonderful classroom teachers, the week celebrates every single staff member that helps to make Shrevewood great! Please consider expressing your family's thanks to all staff (office/admin, custodial/facilities, and our many specialists) in any way possible.

Help to make the week SUNsational by participating in one or more of the activities below!

SIGN-UP HERE: Gratitude Expressions

Teachers & staff will love walking into the school on Monday!  As they exit their cars, the sidewalks will be beaming with positive messages, and we will really touch their hearts when they see the front entrance adorned with posters of thanks and the conference room decorated as a beach oasis. Come by Saturday or Sunday to help decorate our sidewalks!

STUDENT DAILY ACTIVITIES

These are some suggestions of ways your student and family can contribute to celebrating Shrevewood’s staff. If you have other ideas or would like to show your appreciation in different ways – please feel free!

Let's really spoil our teachers with our gratitude and appreciation for all their hard work every day for our kids and families!

Transportation Delays May 2nd

The bus driver shortage continues to be a challenge for school systems across the nation, including FCPS. On Monday, May 2, we anticipate additional delays due to employee absences in observance of the holiday.

Please visit the Bus Delay Website https://busdelay.fcps.edu/ and, if registered, monitor bus route updates on the Here Comes the Bus app. If your child’s bus is more than 30 minutes late, you will receive an eNotify message via email or text. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Positivity Project

Next week we will begin learning about LEADERSHIP.

WHAT DOES LEADERSHIP MEAN?
You value each member of your group and inspire people to do their best. Leadership can be both formal and informal. It is concerned with getting others to do what needs to be done while maintaining group morale to ensure readiness to act in the future. This character strength’s focus is on the personal qualities of leaders, rather than the practice of leadership. These qualities include the ability to understand others and inspire them toward a common goal, the capacity to mitigate conflict and mold consensus, and the desire to lead other people.
