Staff Appreciation Week

Date Reminders

  • May 2 to May 6:  Staff Appreciation Week. We would like to celebrate our amazing Eagle Staff here at Springfield Estates. Please take a moment to write a short note here saying why our staff is the best staff in the world.  
  • May 3:  PTA Meeting, 6:00 PM (virtual). 
  • May 4:  Partners in Print for PreK - 2nd grade, 6:00 PM.
  • May 21:  Beautification Day, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  To volunteer, please email Megan Brooks at mjbrooks@fcps.edu.
  • May 25:  Band Concert, 7:00 PM. 
  • May 26: Strings Concert, 7:00 PM.
  • May 30:  Memorial Day Holiday.  School will be closed for staff and students.
  • June 7:  PTA meeting, 6:00 PM (virtual).
  • June 9:  6th Grade Promotion Ceremony (details coming soon).
  • June 10:  Last Day of School/Two-Hour Early Release. Students will be released at 2:05 PM.

Military Family Resource:  Tutor.com for U.S. Military Families, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, is a program that provides on-demand, online tutoring and homework help at no cost to eligible service members, civilian personnel, and their dependents. Personalized help is available in more than 100 subjects for grades K-12 and college students, including math, writing, reading, ELL, science, English, social sciences, history, accounting, finance, nursing, world languages, computer science, study skills and test prep. Tutoring is available with bilingual Spanish-speaking tutors for math, science and social studies. With expert tutors available 24/7, military-connected students can receive academic help at their moment of need—anywhere they have an internet connection.

Girls Fire and Rescue Academy: The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department is excited to announce its Girls Fire and Rescue Academy summer camp, which will take place June 21 -24. The Academy is open to rising 7th through 12th grade female students for the upcoming 2022 - 2023 school year. Participants must be a Fairfax County resident.

Region 3 Award Winners

Congratulations to our area's FCPS award winners:

  • Shelby Press, Second Grade Teacher at Riverside Elementary School, has been named the Region 3 Outstanding Elementary New Teacher for 2022.
  •  Madeline Bishop, English Teacher at Mount Vernon High School, has been named the Region 3 Outstanding Secondary New Teacher for 2022.
