Hello Justice HS Students, Families, and Community Members: headshot

Yesterday we relaunched our Super Saturday (SOL preparation) sessions, which are designed to support students and their academic success with targeted interventions and enrichment. We also held our 2nd Family Event and provided information sessions for college-bound and newcomer students, wellness seminars, and math and literacy activities.  Our final Family event for the school year will be held Tuesday, April 26th starting at 6:00 PM.  As a reminder, snacks and child care will be provided, so save the date and bring the entire family!

Class of 2022 Parents

Each year, in the graduation program, we recognize those students who receive the Eagle Scout Award or the Girl Scout Gold Award and/or enlist in the Military. In order for us to recognize these students, we students/parents to notify us of this recognition! We have sent this message to all of the seniors but we wanted to notify the parents as well. If this applies to your student, then please complete the Eagle Scout Award / Girl Scout Gold Award / Military Enlistment Google Form. This form will close on May 1, 2022 in order for the program to be printed in time for graduation on June 1, 2022.

POSSIBLE CANCELLATION: ALL NIGHT GRAD PARTY – (IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PTSA)

We want to be sure that the lack of volunteers for the PTSA’s All Night Grad Party event is indicative of the fact that people want to move away from staffing and funding this specific event and not that you just missed the previous announcements. If we do not have a full slate of volunteers by April 27th (see link below) we must CANCEL the event (if that is the case, we will re-focus our efforts elsewhere). Thank you!

FCPS and Fairfax County Government Partnering to Provide Substance Abuse Webinars on April 26, 28

Due to the rise in opioid overdoses in the Fairfax Health District (which is consistent with national and state trends), Fairfax County Public Schools has partnered with Fairfax County Government to provide educational webinars on youth substance use trends and supports. The free webinars are scheduled for April 26, and April 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both webinars will provide the same information.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Most commonly used substances
  • In-depth opioid information
  • Reasons why youth use substances
  • How parents can support their children
  • Available FCPS and Fairfax County Resources
  • How students, parents, and community members can connect with support providers

Registration for the webinars is available online.

CONGRATULATIONS

Governor’s Summer Residential World Language Academies

It is with pleasure and pride that we announce the acceptance of our Justice HS students Nathan Hershey and Alessandra Baz-Aguilar to the Governor’s Summer Residential World Language Academies.

This achievement represents years of commitments both from teachers and the student in question. Every year, only about 60 students among the 250 BEST students, from the state of Virginia, applying are selected. Both students will represent JHS and experience a 3 week stay at a college campus, completely immerged from sunset to sundown.

Congratulations Nathan and Alessandra on this prestigious achievement!

NVADACA SCHOLARSHIP RECEIPENTS

The Northern Virginia Athletic Directors, Administrators, and Coaches Association ( NVADACA  ) announces this year’s Scholarship Winners! This year NVADACA received 154 Scholarship Applications.  Each of these students were awarded a $4000.00 scholarship:

Catherine Chmura - JOHN R. GRINNELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
