Lemon Road Community News 4.22.22

Message from Mrs. Castillo

Art

This was a really fun week!  It was amazing seeing the hard work of Ms. Norton and Ms. Bearss and our lions at the Marshall Pyramid Art Show.  The Eco-Defense Squad continues to impress our school and community at large… this week with the first Farmer’s Market at Lemon Road.  Thank you to our students as well as Ms. Busch, Ms. Park, Ms. Benson, and Ms. Roman for this profitable and healthy initiative!  A big thank you to all staff that showed up to purchase eggs, asparagus, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, zucchini, or cucumbers.  I can’t wait to see how this grows to bring fresh food directly to our community.

Finally, I want to personally thank all our volunteers for their support this school year.  We had a delicious breakfast this morning to give just a token of our appreciation for all you do!  You truly helped and continue to help our garden grow.

Thank you everyone who dressed to support this week’s military child focus.  Hope to see you tomorrow at the Spring Fair! ~ Mrs. Castillo

COVID Notification

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is sharing this notification with the community for awareness only.  This letter is to inform you that a COVID-19 positive case was reported at Lemon Road this morning (4.22.22).   FCPS has directed all COVID-19 positive cases to complete their isolation period before returning to school, and our school remains open to other students and staff at this time.  As long as any other students and staff remain symptom-free, they may continue to come to school or work and no further action is required.

If students or staff develop COVID-like illness they should stay home or will be sent to the CARE room.   For more information on COVID-19 Supports and Resources, please visit the VDH website. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work through the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Order Lifetouch Class Photos

Twosday

We are putting finishing touches on the yearbook and Lifetouch has sent us copies of each class photo.  Please send in $10 cash or check (made out to Lifetouch) for a 8 x 10 class photo for your child’s class taken this spring.  We have limited quantities of each class, so send in your money next week!

Student Placement 2022 - 2023

KEVA

Determining class placements for the next school year begins each spring and lasts through the summer months. The grade level teachers, specialists, and administrators meet to plan classroom assignments. A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, and academic strengths/needs are considered as we create our classes. Lemon Road families can assist us with class placement by sharing their insights about their child specifically using this form.  Rising kindergarten families will receive a more detailed survey in July. Completion of the form is optional: however, the deadline for submission is May 13, 2022. Please complete one form per child.

Lost & Found

Lost & Found

As the weather gets warmer in the afternoons, our Lost and Found is growing.  Some sixth graders helped me today organize the Lost & Found and have it ready for tomorrow’s fair between the Roaring Raffle and the restrooms.  Please stop by and check for your lions’ items! Items left in May will be donated to a local shelter or families in need.

Students will be able to access Tutor.com via a link in Schoology.  Additional information about how to log in and access a tutor is provided to families via the following instructional videos: Elementary video and Secondary video. This new service will help many students complete assignments, better understand classroom lessons, and be successful.

Positivity Project: Purpose

Purpose

People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. That reason could be to create a unique invention, to bring joy through art or music, or to raise their children to become good people. Having a clear sense of purpose gives individuals strength. It allows them to

persevere and find courage when things are hard, or lead with kindness and love. Those with a sense of purpose have more meaning in their life – and are more fulfilled.
