Parent Presentation May 4: Wellness Wednesday!

wellness

Come join our counselors, Ms. Fobert and Ms. Sharpton for a virtual presentation on healthy coping strategies. We will discuss coping strategies that we teach students at school and how you can implement them at home. We will also talk about why coping strategies are important and explore how children feel during crisis. The link will be sent prior to the meeting!

Class Placement 2022-2023: Parent Input Form

We are already working on our plans for the 2022-2023 school year!  Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please share your input by answering a few questions completing the form at the following link: Class Placement 2022-2023 Parent Input Form . We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral information.

Completion of this form is optional.  If you would like to provide input, you may use this online form by May 13, 2022. This is a hard deadline. Please know that input from forms turned in over the summer are difficult to honor since the grouping process has already started. Please fill out one form per child. Thank you! We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Positivity Project for April 23-May 1

P2

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Purpose. Purpose means you have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life’s purpose. You seek to be part of something greater than yourself.

Purpose gives individuals the sense that they are put on this earth for a reason and that they are somehow connected with humanity or the universe. People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. That reason can have all kinds of variety. It could be to create a unique invention, bring joy through art or music, or raise their children to become good people. These people have a true calling.

Having a clear sense of purpose in life and believing that you’re connected to a larger meaning gives individuals strength. It allows them to persevere and find courage in trying circumstances or lead with kindness and love even when it’s not reciprocated. Those with a sense of purpose have more meaning in their life -- and are more fulfilled.

To practice and encourage the character strength of purpose with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions. Have a wonderful week!

First, we’ll be joined by Positivity Project student ambassadors who will present on how this program helps make Parklawn a caring community. Second, we’ll hold elections for the Vice President and Treasurer positions.
