WAKEFIELD FOREST ES WEEKLY MESSAGE

concert

WFES families enjoyed the Band and Strings concert last week!

Dear Wakefield Forest Families,

Last week was so exciting. We loved seeing our families at the band and strings concert, Earth Day clean-up and the PTA Outdoor Movie Night. We are grateful to our SCA Sponsors, Jessica Yaman and Christine Rowader, for organizing the cleanup, as well as band teacher Nancy Cradler and strings teacher Maggie Lubinski for a beautiful concert.  We had the biggest crowd at movie night since I joined WFES in 2007. Thank you to the PTA and the Verne Family for bringing the community together for this fun event.

Next week is staff and teacher appreciation week. Everyone on the WFES staff has worked exceptionally hard this year, many people stretching outside their typical role to get the job done with substitute shortages. I know that despite the challenges I have faced personally this year, working with this particular group of individuals keeps me coming back with a smile on my face. I hope you will join me in showering the staff with appreciation next week…a kindly worded note or email is truly a treasure.

Thank you.

In search of SOL Hall Monitors

We're looking for volunteers to serve as hall monitors for SOL testing for the next couple of weeks (see schedule below).  You will be asked to sit in a hallway, remind students passing through to not talk, and monitor restroom breaks. We'd appreciate any amount of time you can give us.  Any parent of Kindergarten through sixth grade students can volunteer.  Bring a book or work for some quiet time!  Please click here to learn more.

SOL Schedule

Below are the dates of the Standard of Learning (SOL) tests for students in grades 3 through 6.  Please notify your student’s teacher if you become aware of an unavoidable conflict that could result in missing a SOL test day.
