Dear Bonnie Brae School Community,
We hope that you had a great week navigating the interesting spring weather, ending with a beautiful day today. Students and staff showed support for our military families on Wednesday by wearing purple, and supported Autism Awareness Month today by wearing blue or Bonnie Brae Autism Awareness shirts! Thank you to all who participated, it was yet another awesome week here at Bonnie Brae!
Tomorrow, April 23 is the last day to order a BBES Yearbook. Yearbooks are $20, and if you would like to place an order, please click on this link.
As always, we hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family!

All County Chorus Recording
Each year, the 6th grade choir students can audition for the FCPS All County Chorus Festival. This chorus is a group of 500+ students from elementary schools from across the county that work on various musical selections and then come together in March to perform as a group. This year, Bonnie Brae Elementary had 6 students chosen to participate in this chorus! Enjoy their performance! Zoom Recording

We have double checked rosters, and we are confident that families will not have multiple children in overlapping performances. That being said, we would like to ensure that every family is able to see their children perform. If you notice that your children are in overlapping performing groups, please email Jessica Warr (BBES Music Teacher) at jwarr@fcps.edu, and we will modify the schedule to make it work for everyone!
More information concerning the concert coming soon from the Fine Arts department.
Save the Date! SOL Test Dates for Grades 3-6
SOL testing for Grades 3-6 will occur in May. The dates for each assessment are available on the Bonnie Brae Website. If you have questions about testing please contact Scott Hawk, Assistant Principal.
BBES Lunch Volunteer Opportunity
We are seeking parent volunteers to support our lunch hours. Lunch starts at 10:45am and ends at 1:30pm. As the weather gets nicer we are looking forward to having some of our volunteers support at some of our outdoor learning spaces as well.
If you are interested in supporting any day(s) of the week on a consistent basis during any portion of our lunch block, please contact Kathy Rials, kerials@fcps.edu.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our students and to continue encouraging safety protocols.
2022 Read-A-Thon Success!
Wow. BBES Readers are the best! Our students read 187,606 pages during the last week of March. The PTO Board is very excited to share that we far exceeded our fundraising expectations for the Read-A-Thon and raised $7,984.42 for our Specials Programs. These funds will be used to purchase new items for Specials classrooms that the whole school can enjoy. Congratulations to our winner and a huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this a fantastic event!

Teacher Appreciation Week
May 2-6th we will take the time to show our appreciation for our teachers. The past few years have been trying and we have asked our teachers to do more than ever before. We are so lucky to have such an amazing group of teachers in front of our students each day. This year the PTO will be recognizing our teachers with a breakfast on Tuesday, May 3rd. We are seeking donations from our wonderful BBES families. If interested, please sign-up here.
