Message from Mrs. Castillo

MOMC

I hope everyone had a fantastic spring weekend!  It has been wonderful seeing our lions, teachers, and families back, rested, and ready to support our children and each other through the fourth quarter.  The halls were a buzz last week with lively learning! This is always a very busy time of year as we approach our end-of-year testing, field trips, celebrations, and make memories with our students and families.  Thank you for taking the time to review class and school expectations to set the stage for our final quarter of learning.

This week FCPS recognizes our military families and thank children from military families for the sacrifices they make living the military lifestyle.  On Wednesday, we ask all students and staff to wear purple to “Purple Up” in recognition of the strength and sacrifices of military-connected youth (MCY).  Other spirit days are shown above in the graphic - including pajama day tomorrow.

As we gear up for end of year events, we have some lions that do not have polos that fit well.  If you have extra polos or ones that your children have outgrown, please send them in this week and have them left in the box in the main office.  These polos will be given to students that need them for end of year assemblies and events.  Thank you! ~ Mrs. Castillo

LRES Class Placement 2022 - 2023

Placement

Determining class placements for the next school year begins each spring and lasts through the summer months. The grade level teachers, specialists, and administrators meet to plan classroom assignments. A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, and academic strengths/needs are considered as we create our classes. Lemon Road families can assist us with class placement by sharing their insights about their child specifically using this form.  Rising kindergarten families will receive a more detailed survey in July. Completion of the form is optional: however, the deadline for submission is May 13, 2022. Please complete one form per child.

Positivity Project - Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence

Beauty

Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence is the ability to identify and enjoy that which is admirable in the world. There are three types of goodness in which positive psychology focuses: physical beauty (e.g. a sunset, a song, or building); an exceptional skill or talent; and moral goodness (e.g. a character strength). Appreciation of beauty can generate awe; appreciation of a skill can generate admiration; and appreciation of moral goodness can generate moral elevation. All of these feelings (awe, admiration, and moral elevation) help us forget ourselves and find increased joy and meaning in the world.
