Help Needed with Basketball Uniforms
As you may have heard, Mr. Jackson, our Basketball Coach is looking to purchase new uniforms for the Basketball team!
They have not had new uniforms since 2003 and the ones that have survived are in sad shape. Our basketball team is an important activity at the school! It can really be a crucial motivator for some of our students and can really help students to feel connected to the school, other students and staff. It can be a significant source of pride and self esteem boost many suffering from anxiety and depression so desperately need.
We have asked over 20 area PTSAs and Athletic Booster Clubs in our catchment area to help our PTSA fund this but also thought we would reach out to you in case you would be able to donate.
Cedar Lane Dance Team Forms
The first ever Cedar Lane Dance Team is here! This team is for any student who is looking for a safe, structured space to express themselves creatively through music. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of PBIS level or music background. We are looking for dancers, DJ’s, and music makers! Meetings will be held after school on Mondays and during some 4th period return days. Ask Ms. Watkins or Ms. Bobe for a permission slip. Any snack, drink, or gift card donations would be very much appreciated!
Cedar Lane Beautification Day is Thursday, April 21
This annual event has our entire building turn out to place mulch, plant and clean the garden areas around Cedar Lane. The students love to participate in this as not only do they get Civics hours, they also get immediate satisfaction with a job well done. We are in need of donations of perennials, which return each year to bloom more. Some examples include: Eastern Red Columbine, Eastern Bluestar, Butterfly-weed, Spiderwort, Blue Wild Indigo, Woodland Phlox, Eastern Rose-mallow, Black-eyed Susan, White Turtlehead, and as always Azaleas. Drop your donations off at the main office or send them in with your student. Thanks for helping out!
Free online Tutoring and Opt-Out
By mid-April, FCPS students will have unlimited access to 24/7, on-demand, online tutoring support services through Tutor.com. Student participation in online (voice and/or text chat) tutoring services is optional. Students will have access to Tutor.com unless parents submit an opt-out form request via ParentVUE or a hard copy signed and returned to schools.
All FCPS families will receive an Online Tutoring Services Notice and Opt-Out Information email on March 22. Parents will be able to submit opt-out request(s) via ParentVUE, and also by returning a signed opt out form back to the school.
