Celebrating Our Military Youth
Dear Military connected Robinson families,
April is the Month of the Military Child, and Robinson will have several activities planned for over 500 Robinson students who are connected to the Military. We are proud of these students as they navigate different stressors than the average student while showing a tremendous amount of courage and resilience. The contributions of our military families need to be celebrated.
For our first activity, we would like you, as a parent in the military or a veteran, to send your student a letter thanking them for their courage, resilience, and ability to balance their world around your service. Letters can be emailed to me at bthazard@fcps.edu, dropped off at the school at the main entrance, or mailed to me at Robinson. Please address the letter to your child on the envelope so our Rambassadors can get the letter to the appropriate student. The school’s address is:
Robinson Secondary School
5035 Sideburn Rd.
Fairfax, VA 22039

Re: MOMC
Secondly, Robinson would like to invite you to a Military breakfast with your student on April 20th at 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM in Robinson’s Gold Cafeteria. During this celebration, we will be recognizing you for your service and celebrating our military children.
Please respond to the invite HERE if you plan to attend this breakfast with your child. Please RSVP by April 12.
Thank you for your service, and we look forward to seeing your letters and celebrating with you on 20 April 2022.
Sincerely,

"This Is For You" is Back
Parent Volunteers Needed
IT IS BACK!
As you know, it’s almost time for Robinson's 18th Annual "This is For You" after being gone for **two years**! WE ARE SO EXCITED!
On Wednesday, April 20st from 10:30am-1:30pm (during the middle school and high school lunches) we will be giving our students treats and snacks.
If you are new to Robinson or haven't yet volunteered for this event, this is FUN!!! We fill huge cafeteria tables with goodies and pass them out to the students just so our kids know how special they are to us!
This year will be a little different: We are also requesting ONLY store-bought goodies.
Please see our other Sign Up Genius for donations: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0444a9ab22a7f58-this1
This SUG will be for parent volunteers to help collect food on Tuesday afternoon/evening and to pass out treats to the students during all five lunches on Wednesday.
Volunteers: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0444A9AB22A7F58-parent
If you are helping on Wednesday during set up or lunches, you MUST SIGN UP. Our school security officers will have a list of the parent volunteers.
Also: you will want to bring a tray (or even a large box lid, like from a case of paper) to help pass out goodies as you walk around the tables.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
And…please remember to keep this a secret!

Earth Day Activities - April 23rd 9-11am
Neighbors & friends,
Earth Day is next Saturday, April 23.
It is our BIG SPRING effort to beautify & clean our parks prior to summer!
I hope you can join us, two areas for your convenience.
Lakeside Park - at the intersection of Bronte & Pommeroy
Royal Lake Park - Off Gainsborough
Saturday, April 23, 9-11AM.
A great time to spend two hours (more or less is ok) to clean our parks.
We'll concentrate on Royal Lake and the immediate vicinity of the two streams feeding the lake (Rabbit Branch & Shanes Creek), please see attached annual planning.
We'll have trash bags, gloves and sign-in sheets for your use. Request you wear appropriate clothing to walk in the woods (potential thorns, poison ivy, etc) recommend boots, long pants & sleeves and work/leather gloves.
FORL - our neighborhood "Friends" group to support Royal Lake. We have done some GREAT work over the past few years and with improved community action plans, survey and park planning. We have teamed with FCPA for some great improvements to the parks over the past few years. NOW, we need your help, PLEASE complete this survey to help us identify the next 2-5 years worth of park planning improvements.
FORL Community Survey
This survey will take about 10-20 minutes and will REALLY help us make plans for the future park improvements.
I have attached our latest FORL Forum, we have a great Robinson student as the NEW editor in chief, recommend you review it!!
Any questions, please give me a call.
