First Day of Ramadan
April 3rd
This year, the first full day of Ramadan was April 3rd. Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims, who believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Quran, Islam's sacred text, to Mohammed, on a night known as "The Night of Power." During the entire month of Ramadan, Muslims fast every day from dawn to sunset. It is meant to be a time of spiritual discipline - of deep contemplation of one's relationship with God, extra prayer, increased charity and generosity, and intense study of the Quran.

Good Friday
April 15th
Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, is the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is a day of mourning. During special Good Friday services Christians meditate on Jesus's suffering and death on the cross, and what this means for their faith. FCPS has designated Good Friday as a religious and cultural observance day designed to allow students the opportunity to miss school for observances not already designated as school holidays.
Theravada New Year
April 16th
In countries where Theravada Buddhism is the most dominant religion, April is the month of celebration. It marks the end of the lunisolar calendar and the beginning of another just like January 1 for most people in the world, and is why this holiday is termed the Theravada New Year. The Theravada New Year is celebrated for three days from the first full moon in April. Theravada means “the teachings of the elders”. (This holiday occurs when school is not in session.)
Softball Fundraiser
Support the FCHS Softball Program and grub at Glory Days Grill in Fairfax all day on Friday, April 22nd!
Dine-in, get to-go, or order online and a percentage of proceeds will go to the Lady Jags. All you have to do is ask for an itemized receipt and turn it in to a softball coach or player!
It's also a great way to fuel up for the Jaguar 5k the next morning :D

The Jaguar 5k is back! We are excited to host this event in person this year. We hope you will consider volunteering. If you are interested in volunteering please click HERE.

TICKET SALES
Our new performance dates are April 28 and 30 at 7PM and May 1 (Sunday) at 3PM. May 1 will be our CAPPIES show. CAPPIES is a Critics and Awards international program designed to recognize, celebrate, and provide learning experiences for high school theater and journalism students and teenage playwrights.

Free Online Tutoring Services for All Students
Coming Soon!
All FCPS students will soon have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost. Funds to support Tutor.com for school year 2022-23 and 2023-24 will come from an ESSER III Unfinished Learning Grant.
Students can connect online any time, and in most subjects for as long as they need. Tutoring is focused instruction provided to students in a one-on-one format through voice or text chat. Tutors will focus on developing student’s strengths and capabilities in reading, mathematics, or other specified subjects. Tutoring services may be accessed before, during, or after school hours and/or on weekends through a link in Schoology.
All tutors must pass a rigorous application process including an extensive background check. No personal information is shared between a student and tutor. All sessions are recorded and transcripts are available for review by teachers and parents/guardians.
Students will automatically have access to the Tutor.com tutoring service unless a parent/guardian submits an opt-out request. All FCPS families will soon receive an email including an online tutoring services notice and opt-out information. Additionally, a hard copy form will be sent home with every student.

The PSTD Meetings for FCHS are scheduled for the following dates. Please be sure to attend one meeting to fulfill your driver’s education requirement.
All of these meetings will be virtual and your 10th grade Health and PE teacher will provide details for signing up!
