Ramadan and Prayer Room Guidelines

Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims, who believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Quran, Islam's sacred text, to Mohammed, on a night known as "The Night of Power." During the entire month of Ramadan, Muslims fast every day from dawn to sunset. It is meant to be a time of spiritual discipline—of deep contemplation of one's relationship with God, extra prayer, increased charity and generosity, and intense study of the Quran.

Below are our current prayer room guidelines:

  • Prayer room hours of operation
    • 11:15 AM – 1:30 PM
    • No students will be allowed to enter prayer room after 1:30 PM
    • Students MUST have a pass from their teacher if they’re accessing the prayer room during instructional time
  • Prayer room location
    • Move from current location to B25
    • Larger space for more students to access at once
    • Adult supervision will be provided

Supporting Successful Starts

As we excitedly head into the fourth quarter, we will increase our support of students having a successful start to each class by arriving on time.  All year we have done hall sweeps that take place after the late bell, however we did this once a day. Starting Monday, April 11th, when the late bell rings for classes to start, we will now do a hall sweep every period.

Any student who is out in the hallway after classes start will be greeted at a hall station. Each hall station will have multiple staff members there to escort them to their class once they check-in at the station.  As we have done in the past, if a student accrues five or more visits at a hall sweep station they may be assigned detention after school.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership to ensure your student is adhering to these extremely critical guidelines for the remainder of the school year.

SENIOR ALL NIGHT GRAD PARTY (ANGP)

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for planning and executing the All Night Grad Party, scheduled for May 30th at Providence Recreation Center. Help is needed from parents of students in all grades, not just Seniors. Students and staff are also very welcome. This event has not been held since 2019, so please help us cross the finish line for our Seniors- who were Freshman when they last had a “normal” school year. Celebrate your Senior OR learn the ropes for the future!

Justice HS Expansion Survey Results

Combined Survey Results

The Justice Expansion Survey was sent to Justice High School parents/guardians, staff and students. The survey link was also available to community members who requested a link to the survey.

The FCPS Office of Communication and Community Relations (OCCR) collected the survey data and presented the results and analysis below.

The majority of the responses were from students and parents.

 survey

The combined results of the Justice Expansion Survey showed considerable support for Proposal #1 from staff, students, and parents/guardians. The community was in favor of Proposal #2. Students and staff, however, were very opposed to Proposal #2 (71% were not in support).

Community Survey Results

The survey was sent to 108 recipients who requested the survey link through News You Choose and Microsoft Outlook. Total responses numbered 52, representing a 48.1% response rate. Four community members who responded reported residing outside of the Mason District. Those four were evenly split between supporting Proposal #1 (50%) and Proposal #2 (50%). No translated surveys received a response.

Parent/Guardian Survey Results

The survey was sent via News You Choose to 9,611 parents/guardians. Total responses numbered 153, a 1.6% response rate. In the survey, parents were asked which school their students attend. Results show the majority of respondents (47.7%) had students enrolled at Justice High School.

 survey

As shown in the combined survey results, the parents/guardians were more in favor of Proposal #1.

The responses were further identified by school and proposal. The responses by school were not homogeneous; however, the small survey sample makes it difficult to interpret a trend at each school. Parents of students at Justice High School were almost as strongly in support of Proposal #1 as the students and staff at Justice High School.

Staff/Student Survey Results

The survey was sent to 279 Justice High School staff members and 2,217 students. Total responses for staff numbered 50, representing a 17.9% response rate. Total responses for students numbered 169, represent a 7.6% response rate.

When divided by role, students and staff were equally in favor of Proposal #1. Students were slightly more in favor of Proposal #2 than staff members.
